In WWE, there are a lot of egos and a lot of talents who believe they should have a better position while others shouldn’t. When it comes to which superstar should be in which position, a lot of that comes down to how talented the performer is and how successful the higher-ups think they will be. Alberto Del Rio has been back in WWE for less than a year now, and he’s already unhappy with his positioning, and having heat with Triple H isn’t going to help him any.
When Del Rio returned in October of last year, he immediately defeated John Cena and won the United States Championship. He held onto it for almost three months, lost it to Kalisto, won it back, and then lost it again two weeks later.
He was a member of the League of Nations stable for about four months before they ended up being dissolved and going their separate ways. He’s not overly thrilled with any of that and wants more from his current run.
Daily Wrestling News is reporting that Alberto Del Rio is not happy with his position in the company right now, and he’s not staying quiet about it either. It is said to be causing a lot of backstage heat between him and Triple H, which won’t help his side of things.
Apparently, Del Rio was promised a main event push upon his return to WWE late last year, and it obviously hasn’t yet come. He’s actually caught in mid-card limbo at the moment and doesn’t really have much direction at all.
The biggest problem that Alberto Del Rio has right now is with Triple H and the push he is receiving, or more so, the lack of one. Everyone knows that the major pushes in WWE come with the look and pull that a talent can bring about. Sportskeeda is reporting that Del Rio simply doesn’t have the time or patience for backstage politics, and he likely won’t put up with it much longer.
Not only does Del Rio not want to deal with those sorts of things, but he has more than enough money and doesn’t really need WWE. If possible, he could try to get out of his contract and go work elsewhere or just sit out much like Ryback is currently doing.
There may be much more to this whole story, though.
Triple H seems to not be a fan of Alberto Del Rio in any way, shape, or form, and he’s spoken with Vince McMahon about not pushing the former world champion. Triple H doesn’t feel Del Rio deserves to be in the main event picture and thinks he’s only going to be a backstage problem unless he gets his way.
The Wrestling Observer doesn’t think it would be out of the question to see a WWE World Heavyweight Title feud later this year, which sees Del Rio against Roman Reigns. That all really depends on how much he gets under Triple H’s skin and if “The Game” will even allow that to happen.
Seeing as how the fans still haven’t really taken to Reigns, it’s hard to believe that they would care about a feud with Del Rio at all. Maybe if the belt was around the waist of someone else, then the fans may care.
Alberto Del Rio has won the United States Title and been a part of the League of Nations since his return to WWE, but that’s about it. He seems to have flattened out and become just another character in the company and Del Rio’s not happy about it. Maybe that will change for him soon, but if he gets on the bad side of Triple H, then there may be even less happening for him in no time at all.
