Brie Larson might be getting ready to kick some serious villain butt in Captain Marvel 2 , but it appears she would also like to take on some lighter fare as well. The launch of Animal Crossing: New Horizons has the video gaming world quite excited. The Nintendo Switch exclusive hit the streets on Friday, and social media has been overrun with people posting their saccharine-sweet pictures of what their individual islands look like.
Apparently, Larson is also joining the hype.
The actress recently sat down for an interview with People , and a large portion of the discussion covered Larson’s love of the Animal Crossing series. Larson also divulged that she got her hands on New Horizons sooner than the general public, saying that she had to keep a wrap on everything she was able to do and see since she was alone.
“I’ve been playing the game I think since Monday by myself and I’ve had nobody to be able to talk to about it. It’s been really sweet to have this special time with it to figure it out on my own.”
Larson told the publication that she has been a fan of the series for a long time, adding that she has been able to play the game as a way of bonding with her friends and family — especially her sister.
Larson revealed that while she was growing up, her family even had competitions for who would get to play Animal Crossing first. She recalled her mother saying that whoever finished their homework first would get to fire up the old Nintendo Gamecube.
Thanks to the peaceful gameplay style, Larson explained that the series allows players to just sit down and be quiet. The actress added that she enjoys how the game syncs up in real-time — meaning that when it is daytime in the real world where a player is located, it is also daytime in the game.
Larson also shared that she has the opportunity to tap into some great childhood memories while playing the newest version of Animal Crossing , which is the first iteration on the Nintendo Switch.
Toward the end of the interview, Larson was asked whether or not she would ever be open to starring in an Animal Crossing movie. She said that if such a project was ever in the works, she would “of course” appear in it. The starlet also noted that she believes the game is “good for our hearts.”
