In the midst of all of the fallout surrounding the mysterious death of rock icon Prince last month, some curious subplots have emerged, including an increasingly nasty public spat between singer Sinead O’Connor and Arsenio Hall . As previously reported by Inquisitr , the former late night talk show host slapped O’Connor with a $5 million lawsuit earlier this week after the singer asserted that Hall supplied Prince with the kind of drugs that might have ultimately caused Prince’s death. Now, Sinead O’Connor is firing back via social media, claiming that her allegations against Hall are have garnered the attention of law enforcement as they investigate the circumstances surrounding Prince’s passing.
“I’m more amused than I’ve ever dreamed a person could be and look forward very much to how hilarious it will be watching him trying to prove me wrong,” O’Connor, said in comments re-published by Entertainment Tonight . “I’m also very happy to notice that the DEA have taken me seriously enough to be thoroughly questioning all of Prince’s friends and aides from the last thirty years as to his KNOWN history of hard drug use and where he obtained his drugs.”
In addition to the gravely serious claim that Arsenio Hall played a part in causing Prince’s demise, O’Connor also took a personal shot at Hall later in her post, adding in some rather off-color remarks to her vitriolic rant.
“I do not like drugs killing musicians,” O’Connor said. “And I do not like Arsenio Hall. He can suck my d***. That is if he isn’t too busy sucking someone else’s d*** : ).”
Arsenio Hall’s lawsuit against O’Connor was filed in Los Angeles on Thursday after the singer claimed in a previous Facebook post that Hall had supplied Prince with drugs for many years. Sinead O’Connor also suggested that Hall had previously given her unwanted drugs during an encounter at comedian Eddie Murphy’s house decades ago.
“Desperate, attention seeker Sinead O’Connor has maliciously published outlandish defamatory lies about comedian Arsenio Hall, falsely accusing him of supplying illegal ‘hard drugs’ ‘over the decades’ to the recently deceased music artist, Prince, and of spiking her with drugs once years ago,” reads an excerpt from the lawsuit, as quoted by CNN .
Sinead O’Connor scored a major hit with her performance of the Prince song “Nothing Compares 2 U” in 1990. Shortly after she found success with the song, Sinead and Prince became estranged. According to O’Connor, she had a violent confrontation with Prince after he asked her to refrain from cursing in interviews.
At the pinnacle of his talk show career, Arsenio Hall served as a celebrity ambassador for the anti-drug organization D.A.R.E. Hall also interviewed Prince numerous times and the two were friends behind the scenes.
Ever since Prince was found dead at his Paisley Park estate on April 21, rumors have swirled that the singer suffered from an opioid addiction brought on by a lengthy struggle with chronic pain. On April 28, police served a search warrant on Prince’s home in search of evidence with might explain his untimely death. The details of the warrant and subsequent findings are sealed via court order, but a number of sources have reported that Prince was found with prescription painkillers on his person at the time of his death.
