Is Malia Obama ditching her film school dreams for an Ivy League education? President Barack Obama’s oldest daughter appears to have finally made a decision regarding which school she will attend in the fall. Malia Obama was spotted wearing a Harvard class of 2020 t-shirt for her school’s college signing day. Malia and sister Sasha Obama both attend the elite Sidwell Friends School in Washington DC, but the family has remained mum on exactly where Malia will be attending for the fall 2016 semester.
The Tab-Harvard reports that Malia Obama was spotted wearing a Harvard t-shirt for her school’s college signing day. Malia is seen smiling as she dons the Harvard class of 2020 shirt. While the Obamas have not formally announced the college that Malia will be attending in the fall, the shirt is a pretty clear indication that she has finally made her decision. To further the speculation that Malia is attending Harvard, it was pointed out that the t-shirt Obama was spotted wearing is only available to students that have been accepted to the Ivy League school.

The choice of Harvard is not a stretch for Malia as both of her parents are alumni of the Harvard Law School. However, both President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama say that they are not going to push their daughters to attend an Ivy League school, but rather decide what works best for them and their situation.
“I don’t want them to think, ‘Oh I should go to these top schools.’ We live in a country where there are thousands of amazing universities. So, the question is: What’s going to work for you?”
However, it seems Malia is not going to test her parents on their statements, instead opting for the Ivy League education. The image of Malia in the Harvard shirt was reportedly uploaded to the Harvard Class of 2020 Facebook page created for students that have been accepted to Harvard for the fall semester.
“There is a Harvard Class of 2020 Facebook page for admitted students, and one of them is friends with a classmate of Malia on Facebook. Malia’s classmate posted that pic on Facebook and it is making its way around with obvious speculation that Malia has chosen to attend Harvard.”

Prior to the Harvard t-shirt photograph, it was rumored that Malia Obama was considering going into the film industry, which would have made the New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, known for its outstanding film school, her presumed choice. The speculation began as Malia showed strong interest in the film industry, spending last summer in New York City interning on the set of the HBO series Girls . Malia allegedly landed the job after telling Lena Dunham that she was a big fan when she visited the White House. While the series was still filming with Malia as an intern, a source close to the production told the Guardian that Malia has known Lena Dunham for a while and that they get along well.
“She’s a fan, and she mentioned that to Lena [Dunham] when she came to the White House. I’m not sure how long she’ll be interning for. It’s a bit of a trial thing for her. They’ve known each other and discussed for a while. Lena and her get along great.”
Before that, Malia also worked as a production assistant for CBS’ sci-fi series Extant in Hollywood which featured actress Halle Berry. Camryn Manheim says that Malia was beautiful, poised and graceful throughout her time working as a production assistant on the Extant series.
“I can tell you that she is graceful, and lovely, and just charming and delightful… she’s pretty remarkable. I mean, they are a remarkable family. When you get hoisted into the spotlight like that, and you grow up under the scrutiny of everybody, and to come out being so charming and in charge of herself, with so much poise, it’s beautiful.”
However, with Malia sporting a Harvard shirt, it seems that the former film fanatic may be taking a new career path. Other Harvard class of 2020 students have taken to Twitter to voice their excitement about joining Malia at Harvard.
