Jessica Jung Versus Girls’ Generation: Former SNSD Member To Drop Solo Album Same Month As Taeyeon, Tiffany, And Yuri

After a little over a year after her extrusion from Girls’ Generation, the most popular K-pop girl group in history, Jessica Jung is finally getting back into music. Earlier this year, it was made known Jessica would release a solo album sometime in either March or April. As a special promotion through her fashion line Blanc & Eclare, fans could have gotten their hands on Jessica’s album in advance if they spent $250 worth of cosmetics at a Blanc & Eclare pop-up located in Inchen International Airport.

Summarized, Jessica Jung is able to move on after one of the most saddening moments in her life, as well as the lives of the members of Girls’ Generation, and Sones. Unfortunately, it seems new wounds are about to be opened as Jessica will now have to compete with Girls’ Generation with her solo album. Taeyeon, Tiffany, and Yuri will also be releasing solo albums the same month Jessica does.

First and foremost, it must be noted that Taeyeon, Tiffany, and Yuri’s solo albums releasing around the same time as their former group mate Jessica is a rumor, as reported by Sports Donga through AllKpop . Rumor aside, it is believed that the solo albums of Girls’ Generation members will be taken care of in the first half of 2016, leaving the latter half for Girls’ Generation as a K-pop idol girl group to return.

What is suspect is that Taeyeon, Tiffany, and Yuri’s solo albums so happened to be rumored to be released in the same month as Jessica. Pertaining to Girls’ Generation, it would be better for Taeyeon, Tiffany, and Yuri to spread out their releases just so that advertisements and promotions can be fully utilized. It would be insufficient to release all three of their albums within the same month because it would also cause them to compete against each other.

When it comes down to the dirt of it all, such an underhanded move was probably something SM Entertainment thought up of. Though they may express a tempered demeanor, the biggest entertainment label in South Korea has a public history of being detrimental towards their talent. Hero Jaejoong, Mickey Yoochun, Xiah Junsu, Han Geng, Kris Wu, Lu Han, No Min Woo, and Tao are other artists who had issues with SM Entertainment, more than any other talent agency in South Korea.

As a matter of fact, many Sones argue the possibility that it was not Girls’ Generation who removed Jessica Jung, but SM Entertainment themselves. They often use The Best Live concert held in the Tokyo Dome, the first live event Girls’ Generation had as an eight-member group, to back their claim. Jessica, along with the other members of Girls’ Generation, have always dreamed to perform at the Tokyo Dome. Once they did, Jessica was no longer a part of them. This struck an emotional chord with the remaining members which caused them to struggle through the performance. The moment that truly showed how vulnerable they were was their performance of “Into the New World” which is Girls’ Generation’s first single back in 2007.

Ultimately, we will never know what really happened between Jessica Jung and Girls’ Generation. At this moment, they are competing against each other when it comes to their solo albums. And apparently, Jessica will be competing with Girls’ Generation when it comes to beauty programs. KpopStarz reports Jessica is currently in talks to be the main host of Beauty Bible on KBS. On the other hand, Girls’ Generation member Hyoyeon is the host of Get it Beauty and Beauty Mentor on OnStyle.
