One match that WWE fans have been wanting to see for the last several years is Brock Lesnar vs. Cesaro. But, WWE hasn’t even considered making the match happen because they don’t think that Cesaro is a main-event-level guy, which is unfortunate.
WWE legends such as Jim Ross and Ric Flair have expressed their interest in seeing Cesaro vs. Brock Lesnar, saying that the “King of Swing” would be the perfect opponent for “The Beast.” However, it looks like the “King of Swing” himself isn’t all that interested in wrestling Brock Lesnar.
Cesaro spoke with the National while promoting WWE’s upcoming tour of Dubai, and he was quick to name AJ Styles when he was asked about who he would like to wrestle when he returns from injury.
He was also asked about possibly wrestling Brock Lesnar, and he didn’t seem too interested in stepping in the ring with “The Beast,” saying that he’d be more interested in wrestling a full-time guy instead of a part-timer.
“I have not done a singles with Brock. It is definitely not my [ambition to face him] as I’d rather stand in the ring against someone who is with WWE the whole time.”
It is hard to imagine that Cesaro would refuse to wrestle Brock Lesnar if he was asked to do so, and if the match happened, it’d be nothing short of fantastic. But really, any match featuring Cesaro, if it’s given time, is absolutely fabulous.
Cesaro became a “Paul Heyman guy” following his win in the inaugural Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal back at WrestleMania 30,which ended up having an underwhelming, and unexplained, ending. Just one day Cesaro and Heyman were together, and the next day they weren’t.
The previous affiliation with Heyman is one of the biggest reasons fans want to see the “King of Swing” vs. “The Beast” in the future. But, we’ll probably never get to see Cesaro in the ring with Brock Lesnar unless Vince McMahon, who thinks Cesaro is boring , changes his opinion on the “Swiss Superman.”
Cesaro has pretty much faced everyone on the WWE roster with the exception of Brock Lesnar and AJ Styles, and a match with Styles upon his return is far more likely than a match with Lesnar.
In fact, several weeks ago, WWE’s website named five possible opponents for AJ Styles, and Cesaro was one of the five guys mentioned. So, that tells you that WWE is planning on having the two face off at some point following the “Swiss Superman’s” return to the ring.
As for when exactly Cesaro will be returning, well, during his conversation with the National , he said that he’ll be out of action for another two to three months, which means that he’ll likely miss WrestleMania 32 .
“Two to three months would be a good target [for my return], hopefully sooner, but like I said, it is a case of how quickly I heal. I am trying to stay positive and get through rehab and coming here to the UAE and seeing how enthusiastic the fans are has helped. I was also in Germany recently and seeing how supportive they were really helps keep a positive mindset.”
Cesaro was gaining quite a bit of momentum before his injury, and hopefully he can pick up right where he left off upon his return, and it’s very likely that, by the time he does return, guys like Finn Balor, Samoa Joe, and Sami Zayn will all be on the main roster. So, he’ll have plenty of guys to have great matches with.
