WWE News: The Undertaker Versus Braun Strowman Not Happening At ‘WrestleMania 32’

WWE’s WrestleMania event is just around the corner, and like every year, The Undertaker’s match is being discussed. Ever since he destroyed with Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 25, fans expect a lot from The Deadman because they know he is capable of delivering. This is especially true considering he works very little per year. Most believe giving him a pass this year is obviously fine considering he worked a lot in 2015 and put his body on the line far more than he should with Brock Lesnar of all people.

It is uncertain if this is Undertaker’s last WrestleMania match or not. With all the injuries being reported, most of the people that Taker would obviously want to face him are out past the event. The thought is that he may end up facing a younger guy simply because it would allow Undertaker to have a match with someone who can work well with him and take care of him in the ring while also helping to shed light on a new face.

That was when the rumor of Braun Strowman came to be. Never really working a lot with WWE NXT, fans did not know Strowman well when he made his debut alongside Bray Wyatt last year. We knew he was a big force and a former strongman, but that was about it. Vince McMahon has “a thing” for people like Strowman, so the thought is that McMahon would want to push him to the moon, and that would mean working with Undertaker on his way up.

The rumor regarding Strowman stated that he would be working with Big Show at WWE Fast Lane then go on to face The Undertaker at WrestleMania 32 . This was universally panned by many fans when the rumor came out, but of course it was never confirmed so many held out hope that WWE might come to their senses and not have this match go down at WrestleMania of all places.

Strowman is still incredibly green in the ring and has difficulty doing anything other than offense, and he only has a certain amount of moves he can seemingly do anyway. Due to all of this, people were not seemingly happy of the news. Now according to The Wrestling Observer , it appears those plans were put to bed. They claim that the idea of The Undertaker and Braun Strowman going at it at WrestleMania is not going to happen.

While most are taking a collective sigh of relief at the good news, it raised the very interesting question of, who will Undertaker face at WrestleMania ? Clearly there is a need for someone, so if not Strowman, then who?

Clearly there are many people that WWE fans would love to see The Undertaker face at WrestleMania , but it all comes down to who makes sense and who does not. Moving someone up from WWE NXT right now seems like a bad idea. WWE would not have enough time to establish them and make them into a legitimate threat to Undertaker.

Anyone who is chosen to go after Taker at WrestleMania has to be someone the fans know at the time and someone that the WWE can build as a threat to him going into the match. While it seems many were against Strowman, if nothing more the WWE has established him enough to be considered a threat to Undertaker if nothing else.

That rules out most anyone from the WWE NXT area, since WWE does not have the time to really bring them up and build them after WWE Fast Lane , which is when Undertaker will be back on television. That leaves current talent. A person like AJ Styles could benefit from the match, but that also forces him to lose his first WrestleMania match which he might be all for if it was a chance to wrestle Undertaker.

Those like Dean Ambrose could go into the match, if he is not taken up by that time.

Probably the biggest wildcard might be Cesaro who is set to be cleared right around WrestleMania time. So he very well could come back on television but not wrestle until WrestleMania itself. Truly, it is up to WWE in the end, but there are a lot of possibilities for Undertaker at WrestleMania, and most all of them are better than the former plan of Strowman.
