The fourth season of Arrow has proven to be one the show’s craziest to date. Not only did Oliver ( Stephen Amell ) and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) finally get engaged, but Felicity was left paralyzed after Damien Darhk’s (Neal McDonough) vicious attack. While the season still has a ways to go before the end, Amell recently sat down and discussed what’s in store for Oliver and Felicity.
Unfortunately for Olicity shippers, Comic Book is reporting that Amell recently hinted that Oliver and Felicity’s engagement would not last long. The idea that their engagement would be broken off was hinted at during the flash forward scene, which featured Felicity without wearing her engagement ring.
“The fact is, Felicity is not wearing her ring in that flash forward scene, and that was not a coincidence,” Amell shared. “Spoiler alert, I probably mess it up.”
There are a number of reasons why the two will decide to end their engagement. The main reason, according to Fashion & Style , centers on Oliver’s illegitimate son that he hasn’t told Felicity about. Keeping secrets of that magnitude is not healthy in any relationship, let alone in one as complicated as Oliver and Felicity’s.
Although the two appear destined to put a halt on their wedding plans, that doesn’t mean it will last forever. Oliver and Felicityhave a lot on their plates right now, from chasing down Darhk to dealing with Felicity’s new life in a wheelchair, so it’s understandable that they would need a break. Hopefully, this doesn’t last long, and the two will find a way to work things out.
In addition to the comments on the future of Oliver’s relationship with Felicity, producer Marc Guggenheim recently discussed Amell’s upcoming cameo on Legends of Tomorrow . Considering the time travelling elements of the new series, it is not surprising that Amell will appear as a much older version of Oliver in Legends .
“Every once and a while, we do an episode where the 10-year-old me has to pinch himself,” Guggenheim told Entertainment Weekly . “We’re not only introducing our version of Connor Hawke to our universe, we’re going to meet the 2046 version of Oliver Queen, and Stephen Amell is going to be reprising his role from Arrow .”
Fans can also expect the future Oliver to be closer than ever to the comic book version, complete with the appropriate facial hair and injuries.
“As an added bonus to comic-book fans, Oliver is missing his left arm and will be sporting a goatee, in a nod to the character’s appearance in the seminal Dark Knight Returns ,” he continued. “We think this episode features some of the coolest things we’ve ever done.”
Many of the characters on Legends of Tomorrow first appeared in an epic two-part crossover episode between The Flashand Arrow. This included cameos by Hawkman, Hawkgirl, and Vandal Savage.
Although the characters managed to defeat Savage, Comic Book is reporting that the villain is back and stronger than ever in the first season of Legends . In fact, the situation has become so dangerous that Hawkman met his unfortunate end in the pilot episode.
Meanwhile, it is not known when Amell will make his cameo appearance on the new show, but he will not be alone when he does. In fact, other characters from the DC universe are also expected to make cameos on the new series, including McDonough’s Damien Darhk, Matthew Nable as Ra’s al Ghul, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon ( The Flash ), and Grant Gustin as Barry Allen/Flash.
The first season of Legends of Tomorrow airs Thursday nights, while Season 4 of Arrow continues Wednesday nights on The CW.
