According to MegaUpload founder Kim Dotcom , the person who gave the order to take down the once popular file sharing website in January was US Vice President Joe Biden.
Speaking with TorrentFreak , Dotcom said: “I do know from a credible source that it was Joe Biden, the best friend of former Senator and MPAA boss Chris Dodd, who ordered his former lawyer and now state attorney Neil MacBride to take Mega down.”
Dotcom isn’t willing to go into specifics at this point, but the MegaUpload founder went on to tell the site that, upon being tipped from an inside source, he and his team scanned through White House visitor logs–which are publicly available–and discovered that a meeting between Biden and several mammoths in the entertainment industries took place in August of last year.
TorrentFreak published a list of all of the visitors at the meeting:
Barry Meyer – CEO Warner Bros Entertainment, Brad Grey – CEO Paramount Pictures, Michael Ellis -Managing Director MPA Asia Pacific, Chris Dodd – CEO MPAA, Jeff Blake – Vice Chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment, Ronald Meyer – President Universal Studios, Michael O’Leary – MPAA Senior Executive Vice President for Global Policy and External Affairs, Robert Regan – (?) and Rich Ross – Chairman of Walt Disney Studios at the time.
Dotcom told the site that he is convinced that “corrupt” elements of the government were responsible in bringing the site down, adding: “At the appropriate time we will release what we know. The whole Mega case is quite the political thriller.”
