New Jersey State Governor Chris Christie is known for his brusque manner of speaking, and within the Republican party, this attribute is one of his most valued features.
In fact, Chris Christie — who TV host and political comedian Bill Maher most recently referred to as a “naugahyde bean bag chair” — is even being batted around as a major GOP contender as veep to presumptive GOP candidate Mitt Romney, alongside the younger and hotter party stars Marco Rubio and Paul Ryan.
The bromance between Romney and Christie runs deep, and Romney even admiringly joked to an audience at a campaign stop recently that he had hoped Christie would launch into one of his characteristic abusive tirades, musing about the portly lawmaker’s penchant for insulting crowds:
“That man really is something, you know that? I was hoping someone in here would start to heckle him so I could watch him go to town here. But you know better, don’t ya? What an extraordinary leader.”
And if by extraordinary, Romney meant “extraordinarily ginormous and pastrami-scented,” we would be inclined to agree. While Mittens missed out on Chris Christie’s most recent outburst, a bunch of reporters — and one in particular — were up-close witnesses to the lyrical stylings of the man Maher also referred to as “Governor Fat Fatty.”
Christie had hoped to keep the reporters on a single subject, the water treatment plant at which he was speaking. But one reporter asked about an upcoming meeting — one that Christie appears to be quite touchy about — and the governor snapped:
“Did I say on topic? Are you stupid? On topic, on topic. Next question.”
Christie wasn’t satisfied with the single jab, and when wrapping up, told press:
“Thank you all very much, and I’m sorry for the idiot over there. Take care.”
