‘Batman: Arkham Knight’ December DLC Release Date And Details Revealed

Published on: December 13, 2015 at 11:34 PM

Batman: Arkham Knight , from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, is one of the most DLC-filled games ever released. With new DLC being released almost every month, it has to be admitted that DLC Season Pass holders are getting their $40 worth from Arkham Knight .

Now, according to a report from Christian Post , the latest DLC release date has been confirmed for December 22, and the contents have also been expanded upon.

According to the GearNuke blog, the release will include :

  • Season of Infamy: Most Wanted Expansion
  • Mission: Beneath The Surface (Killer Croc)
  • Mission: In From The Cold (Mister Freeze)
  • Mission: Wonderland (Mad Hatter)
  • Mission: Shadow War (Ra’s al Ghul)
  • 2008 Christopher Nolan Dark Knight Batman Skin
  • Original Arkham Batmobile
  • Crime Fighter Challenge Pack #5
  • Six TBC AR Challenges

It’s good to see the Dark Knight Batman skin will finally be available, something that fans have been eagerly awaiting since the game’s release, and for months since the release of the 2008 Tumbler Batmobile. The skin will be available to all players on release, not just those who’ve purchased the DLC/Season Pass. Fans will also be pleased to see several of Batman’s most classic villains coming to Arkham Knight , especially fan-favorite Ra’s al Ghul, leader of the League of Assassins.

Included in the DLC pack are four new Most Wanted missions, the Batman: Arkham series’ version of side quests; one for each classic villain returning. While not required to complete the game, Most Wanted missions expand the story and offer special rewards, and currently players have to complete at least seven to see a different ending, and all Most Wanted missions to see the game’s true canon ending. While Season of Infamy is a story-heavy expansion, it’s unknown if the new Most Wanted missions will be required or applicable to unlocking the different endings when they’re released.

Regardless, with a cast of villains like that, the new missions are sure to be worth the time.

While additional details are still unknown, including any of the contents of Crime Fighter Challenge Pack #5, Rocksteady has released a preview image that may provide some hints.

The latest DLC will be released simultaneously for Xbox One, PS4 and PC – assuming anyone is able to play Batman: Arkham Knighton PC. As the Inquisitrhas previously reported, most users are still finding the game unplayable on PCin spite of the best efforts of Rocksteady and Warner Bros.

Speaking of patches, Rocksteady has also indicated that a new patch for Arkham Knight rain effects is on the way. The upcoming update will improve rain effects on all three platforms; specifically, rain will be much heavier and more prevelant throughout the game. Personally, we’re not sure how much of an “improvement” this is, but to each their own. Interestingly enough, the patch is coming for PC first, before the end of the year (because more rain is sure to improve the game’s poor performance, somehow) and will arrive for Xbox One, and PS4 sometime in the new year.

In all fairness, no ‘Batman’ character can angst properly without rain. [Image via Rocksteady Games]

In an interesting side note, Rocksteady may have inadvertently revealed their plans for the future of the Batman: Arkhamseries (we all knew they weren’t going to stop when they said they were stopping, right?) According to a report from GameSpot, Rocksteady has begun to post job ads looking for developers with multiplayer experience. While Batmanhas had multiplayer content since Arkham Origins, it’s never been the focus of the game, and while there are no further details right now, anybody who has played the Arkhamseries’ multiplayer offerings could probably make some guesses.

Of course, that also means that there’s no guarantee that the project they’re hiring for will be an Arkham game. But fans can dream and, let’s face it, it would make good business sense; the Arkham series hasn’t exactly been hurting for sales.

Time will tell. Meanwhile, the latest Batman: Arkham Knight DLC will be available December 22, 2015, releasing just in time to help you avoid your family over the holidays.
