Following the release of a short teaser trailer for the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, fans have now been given the first full look at Out of the Shadows . According to Coming Soon , the first full trailer has officially been released, and along with featuring the crime fighting ninjas, revealed the return of Megan Fox to the franchise as investigative journalist April O’Neil and introduced Arrow’s Stephen Amell as Casey Jones.
The new TMNTmovie is the second in the most recent reboot in the hit franchise and follows a successful first film that managed to make $485 million worldwide. Although previous movies in the long time franchise were based largely on the Mirage comics, Comic Book Resources is reporting that Out of the Shadowswill feature more elements from the cartoon version from the ’80s.
The group of superheroes were first introduced in a comic by Kevin Eastman back in 1987. Ever since their creation, the turtles in a half shell have captivated audiences and have been adapted to several different formats over the years, including film, television, live action and animated. The most recent adaption being the 2014 film, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles .
Part of these ’80 inspired elements includes the turtle’s upgraded van, complete with flying sewer lids, and the introduction of some classic characters, including Casey. Not only are fans very excited at the prospects of seeing Casey, who was noticeably absent from the 2014 movie, but Amell’s take on the character is certainly going to be exciting to watch.
Luckily, the trailer has already shown fans how Amell’s version of the hockey stick wielding hero will look like on the big screen. In said trailer, Casey rescues April from a group of bad guys just before the turtles bust in. Along with displaying his skills as a fighter as skater, Jones and April clearly have some chemistry going in the scene. Just how Michelangelo deals with this romance between the two is yet to be seen, but the hero was quick to point it out in the trailer.
Amell is known for his part in the hit crime fighting series, Arrow, in which he plays the lead part of Oliver Queen. With the show just finishing up with its mid-season finale, fans will likely be pleased to get a chance to see Amell on the big screens for a change.
In addition to being featured in the newest trailer, Amell has also been busy in promoting Out of the Shadows . In fact, according to Classicalite , the actor recently shared a short promo video for Out of the Shadows on social media ahead of the release of the full trailer. With the likes of Amell and Fox working hard on promoting the new film, and all of the fans Amell is likely to attract to the franchise, there is little doubt that the movie will a huge success when it premieres in theaters this summer.
