Stacey Dash Says She’s ‘Not Racist’ Because She’s A ‘Black Mexican’

Over the years, Stacey Dash has gotten into her share of hot water due to her conservative opinions and views. For example, she doesn’t believe that the gender wage gap exists. When she went on the short lived Meredith Vieira Show , she denied that the gender wage gap was a real thing.

At the time the Fox News contributor said the following.

“I feel like it’s an excuse. It’s the same thing with race. It’s an excuse. Stop making excuses. If there are opportunities, seize them and be prepared for them, and be the best, if that’s what it takes. If you have to be extraordinary, then be extraordinary.”

She’s also said that there shouldn’t be a Black History Month or a BET channel because it promotes exclusivity, which won’t help African Americans be included in other events, such as the Oscars, which was a relevant topic that ignited her comments.

“If we don’t want segregation, then we need to get rid of channels like BET and the BET Awards and the [NAACP] Image Awards. There shouldn’t be a Black History Month.”

With that said, as an actress, Stacey Dash herself has appeared on BET numerous times, which the network reminded her after her comments spawned significant backlash via social media.

One of her most famous quotes occurred when she appeared on The Sean Hannity Show , in which she was asked if she thought President Obama helped minorities during his presidency. At the time she said, “No, not at all. It still keeps them stuck. They are getting money for free. They feel worthless. They are uneducated.”

Now, Stacey Dash has defended herself from what she says is unfair treatment. The actress has told The Hollywood Reporter that she’s been called a racist due to her views.

“Everybody tells me I’m racist. I’m a black Mexican. It’s absurd. White casting people have actually said to me, ‘You’re not black enough.’ It’s the same as stereotyping white people, with ugly sweaters at Christmas and grandma drunk on eggnog. That’s not white people, and now they say black people have to think, act, speak and look a certain way in order be black enough.”

In the interview, she also says that Hollywood is antagonistic toward conservatives; she has claimed that as soon as she came out as a conservative, her acting offers dried up.

She continues her explanation as follows.

“People tell me to kill myself. I don’t let it get to me. But I’ve been dreaming of being an actress since 8, and I was well on my way. Then, I came out as a conservative and everybody shut the door on me. I lost friends and family. What I did not lose is my dignity and my strength.”

The gender wage pay gap comes up once again, and it seems like her conversation with Meredith Vieira hasn’t changed her opinion on it. She continues to tell The Hollywood Reporter that she sees it as “an excuse.”

“It just has to do with negotiations. If you have Matt Damon and Angelina Jolie in a movie, who do you think will get paid more? I’d bet on Angelina Jolie, and it has nothing to do with gender. To me, that’s like playing the race card. It’s an excuse.”

As for why she seems to be the sole black voice in Hollywood that’s conservative? She blames brainwashing by the liberal party for that.

“They’ve been duped into believing the Democratic hypocrisy and policies that have been shoved down their throats for eight years by a black president.”
