The movie “Home” is a 90 minute exploration of our world and some of the environmental problems facing it. The movie, currently hitting theaters around the world, is produced by Luc Besson (La Femme Nikita, The Professional) and directed by Yann Arthus-Bertrand a noted nature photographer.
However in a first for both the online world and YouTube the movie is being distributed free by YouTube on its own specially branded YouTube channel . You will be able to view the movie in any one of six different languages as well as watch a number of video extras. Along with that there are special Google Maps layers and education information. The movie will be available for viewing until June 14th.
If this is a sample of what YouTube would be able to do as far as branded pages for movies – or even television shows – I would think that it something that networks should look at as an alternative to things like Hulu . The other really cool thing is that even though it is a branded page the movie itself is embeddable. Although I’m not sure what will happen after the 14th.
