Jennifer Lawrence battles the evil President Snow as the character Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games films, but the actress said Donald Trump would be far worse if elected president of the United States.
According to People , Jennifer Lawrence made the comment while promoting her latest film The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 .
“If Donald Trump becomes president, that will be the end of the world,” Jennifer Lawrence said.
Access Hollywood reports that the 25-year-old Jennifer Lawrence went on to say she felt Trump’s run for the presidency was some sort of reality television experiment .
“I genuinely believe that reality television has reached the ultimate place where now even things like this might just be for entertainment,” Jennifer Lawrence said.
If the Donald Trump campaign is not being run for entertainment value, Jennifer Lawrence has a second theory: Trump is actually a pawn in a larger political campaign.
“It’s either that or it’s Hillary’s brilliant idea,” Jennifer Lawrence said.
While Trump has supporters, Jennifer Lawrence said some of those fans may not be thinking things all the way through.
“I was watching him on the campaign trail and one guy said, ‘I love Donald Trump because he’s saying everything I’m thinking and I just can’t say it because of the PC factor.’ And I’m thinking, ‘You are absolutely right. That’s who I want representing my country, somebody politically incorrect. That will just be perfect,’” Jennifer Lawrence said.
Entertainment Weekly reports that other members of the Hunger Games cast support Jennifer Lawrence. In the same interview with Jennifer Lawrence, both Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson expressed similar beliefs.
“I’ll back you up on that,” Hemsworth said in response to comments by Jennifer Lawrence.
Hutcherson agreed that a Trump presidency would be a bad thing, but added that he was skeptical that Trump would go on to win the country’s highest political office.
“It’s a publicity stunt,” Hutcherson said. “It can’t be real.”
It has been a tough week for Trump in the celebrity arena. After getting what he had initially interpreted as an endorsement from New England Patriot’s quarterback Tom Brady, Trump saw the football great backtrack in an interview on WEEI’s Dennis & Callahan Show.
As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Brady said his earlier comments had been taken out of context and had been intended as a way of having fun with a question about a Donald Trump campaign hat in his locker. In fact, Brady said he’s not into politics and doesn’t have any idea who he plans to vote for.
“It’s actually not something that I really even enjoy. It’s way off my radar,” Brady said.
Matt Damon, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter , showed that he was of a like mind with Jennifer Lawrence when it comes to how seriously to Donald Trump’s candidacy.
“I’ve never met him,” Damon said. “But when people are talking about putting a wall up, I just can’t take them seriously. I can’t. It seems so un-American. We have people running for the highest elected office talking about putting a wall up that would keep my wife and her family out of the country, you know?”
According to The Christian Science Monitor , Donald Trump might take comfort in the fact that Hollywood stars tend to support Democrats over Republicans . For example, Bernie Sanders recently announced a list of supporters that includes Will Farrell, Susan Sarandon, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Piven, and all of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Hillary Clinton counts Beyoncé, Arianna Grande, Kerry Washington, Snoop Dogg, Kim Kardashian, and Magic Johnson among her supporters.
