‘The View’ Bleeding Sponsors After Apology To Nurses. Will Nurses Finally Destroy The House That Barbara Built?

Three more sponsors have pulled their ads from the ABC daytime talk show The View in the wake of the #NursesUnite scandal. The Wrap reports that Party City, Snuggle, and McCormick pulled advertising support for The View due to demands from nurses. All three companies announced a pause in advertising support via their respective Facebook pages. The language of the announcements didn’t escape the notice of some nurses, and now there are demands for Party City, Snuggle, and McCormick to completely sever ties with The View and commit to never supporting the show again.

McCormick drew more anger from nurses after an ad for their brand ran during The View 17 hours after the company’s claimed they paused ad support. McCormick apologized via their Facebook pages and blamed the ad on delayed communication with the network.

McCormick, Party City, and Snuggle are just the latest companies to back away from the controversy stirred when The View hosts Joy Behar and Michelle Collins seemed to mock nurses during the Monday, September 14 show. The View tried twice to do damage control. On Tuesday, September 15, Collins apologized and said that her comments were taken out of context. On Friday, September 18, The View invited instructors and students from New York University’s nursing program.

So far, nurses don’t seem impressed with Collins’ or The View’s apologies.

And the controversy may not be over. As previously reported by the Inquisitr , comedian Nicole Arbor told Opie and Jim Norton that she heard the hosts of The View grumbling about having to apologize over their comments.

“Backstage, I heard the girls being like, ‘Oh yeah, our nurse jokes didn’t go over well so we have to apologize because they’re tweeting us too much.’ And I’m like, ‘you all are pu**ies.’ See, I can sit in my jokes and be like, yeah, I made them, I think it’s funny. Whatever. But they go on there and make a fake apology. When the cameras weren’t rolling, [Collins] was like ‘Yeah, that’s not a real profession. They want to be doctors.’ Blah, blah, blah. ‘We apologize to all the nurses, we respect you,’ I’m like, ‘I might be the blonde, but you’re the f***ing idiot.’”

ABC officially denied Arbor’s claims about The View , but the flippant attitude is in line with tweets made, and then deleted, by Michelle Collins shortly after the scandal broke.
