Pretty Little Liars show creator Marlene King doesn’t dodge many questions about what direction her show is moving toward. And questions about the continuation of the popular TV series isn’t one of them.

But when asked if Season 7 would be the final one for Pretty Little Liars by the Hollywood Reporter ‘s Ryan Gajewski, King gave an answer that still leaves a possibility for future seasons in the series.

“There’s a new mystery and a new story that starts up when we come back in the next episode, and that story will most likely end at the end of season seven. So it’s a great final, gigantic mystery twist — I think it’s the biggest we’ve ever had. And that feels like season seven is probably a good time to end that story. But we’ll see — we have a little time to play with it. But we’re definitely moving in that direction.”

The mystery King refers to is the new villain for Pretty Little Liars . After revealing “A” to be Charlotte/Charles DiLaurentis, the show is rebooting with a new storyline set 5 years in the future.

While fans will have to wait until January, 2016, to find out about the new villain, clues in the final two minutes of the mid-season finale revealed the character’s gender — or so viewers think.

Despite King’s answer about when to expect the final season of Pretty Little Liars , Lucy Hale — who stars as Aria on the show — gave her own answer as to her future with the show. In an interview accompanying her racy shoot in V Magazine , Hale dishes that she’ll be exiting the show in October, 2016.

“I’ll be done next October with [ Pretty Little Liars ] forever, which is exciting, but also scary at the same time because it’s the next chapter of my life and so I’m really looking forward to exploring different and darker roles.”

Regardless of when Pretty Little Liars ends, there are still nagging questions followers of the series want answered. A top 10 list of questions viewers still have after the mid-season finale aired were compiled by Design & Trend . Among them are why CeCe (Vanessa Ray) and Sara Harvey (Dre Davis) co-conspired to bring down the pretty little liars in the first place.

A nagging question many fans had after the mid-season finale must also be answered, preferably within the first few minutes of the next episode.
