American downhill skier Lindsey Vonn has suffered a training setback today in Queenstown, New Zealand, fracturing her ankle in a training crash. This is the latest in a series of injuries that have plagued her career, including the knee injury that kept her out of the last Winter Olympics.

But Lindsey Vonn, a Twitter regular, has taken to social media to send her fans a message not to count her out just yet.

A report out of New Zealand is reporting that this snow camp in the Wakatipu Basin near Queenstown was the first on-snow training that Lindsey Vonn has done in anticipation of the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea.

The Inquisitr reported that this snow camp was critical to Lindsey Vonn’s training, as she had been off the snow for over a year. New Zealand was to be her first snow training, followed by more skiing in Chile next month in colder weather. All training is on hold for now, as Vonn is traveling back to the States to be evaluated by her team.

The New York Post is reporting that this incident could derail her attempts to get back into world cup contention in preparation for the Olympic games in South Korea. The Post has mentioned that Vonn believes this is a hiccup on her way back to the top of women’s downhill skiing.

Sports Illustrated recalls that Lindsey Vonn missed the Sochi Olympics when she tore two ligaments in her right knee in a training crash. She has since injured that knee a second time. Reports of this current injury do not mention which ankle is broken, but it also doesn’t seem to concern either knee or ligaments.

According to the Inquisitr , heading to New Zealand, Lindsey Vonn seemed to be in excellent shape, and had seemingly put her romance with Tiger Woods behind her. She had made adjustments to her diet and her gym training, and has made public that she still supports Tiger Woods in golf and his new restaurant venture .

Do you think Lindsey Vonn can move past this current injury?
