Pat Houston is already being scrutinized for the monetary gifts her foundation received for Bobbi Kristina Brown’s funeral. Over the weekend, thousands mourned the loss of Bobbi Kristina Brown, daughter of the late Whitney Houston and R&B singer Bobby Brown. Although the 22-year-old was buried in New Jersey on Monday, August 3, unfortunately, the dust hasn’t settled just yet, and the family battle over money appears to be far from over.
By now, everyone is aware that Pat Houston, Whitney Houston’s sister-in-law and Bobbi Kristina’s aunt, reportedly took the reins and planned the entire funeral. But, many people weren’t pleased with a number of the decisions that she made. Pat’s decision to do a “Sweet 16” -themed funeral sparked controversy due to Bobbi Kristina’s age, but the request on the funeral invitation quickly overshadowed the theme.
As previously reported on Inquisitr , Pat Houston requested monetary donations in lieu of flowers and revealed that all of the funds would be donated to a foundation. While donating to a non-profit organization is relatively normal, the problem, in this case, is that the Marion P. Foundation is owned and operated by Pat Houston, whose real name is Marion Patricia Garland-Houston.

Almost immediately after the funeral invitation was made public, outrage ensued. For those who missed it, Bobby Brown’s sister, Leolah Brown , immediately took to Facebook to address the situation, pleading with fans to keep their money and refrain from donating to the foundation.
“The Brown family has just learned that Marion Patricia Houston, AKA: Pat Houston, is asking for the public to send money to her foundation (The Marion P Foundation) on behalf of my niece Bobbi Kristina.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND ONE RED CENT! As she has not even sat down & spoken to my brother Bobby, who is Bobbi Kristina’s father, about this. This is part of the proof that her intentions are very ill . This is nothing more than another scheme of Pat Houston, to try to get money put into her account for her personal gain… There is much evil hidden behind this foundation.”
The questionable request for donations instead of flowers actually led to all of the confusion at Bobbi Kristina’s funeral, where Leolah Brown was kicked out . When Pat Houston began speaking at the funeral, Leolah reportedly had no reservations about voicing her opinion of Pat’s presumably underlying motives for requesting money.
Although Leolah Brown’s claims were initially unconfirmed accusations, Radar Online reports that Pat Houston tax records for the past couple years have raised concerns. Apparently, she has not filed returns revealing how the funds are used and where the money actually goes. So, now many news outlets are questioning what will happen to the proceeds donated for the funeral.
Although Bobbi Kristina has been buried next to her mother, it doesn’t seem like there will be peace between the Brown and Houston families anytime soon.
