Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 was only announced two days ago, and yet pre-orders for Treyarch’s next installment in Activision’s massively popular franchise is already looking to handily surpass its predecessors, Call of Duty: Black Ops and Modern Warfare 3 , in sales.
According to Amazon, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 was pre-ordered ten times more in its first day than Call of Duty: Black Ops managed to pull in on day one. If that’s not impressive enough for you, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is also beating Modern Warfare 3 day-one pre-orders by as much as 30 percent.
“Set to be one of the biggest games of the year, it’s great to see so much enthusiasm and anticipation for Call of Duty: Black Ops II,” Amazon UK’s video games manager Graham Chambers said (via MCV ).
“Bolder and better than before and with everything from a futuristic storyline through to single player mode, Zombies and multiplayer, Black Ops II promises something Call of Duty fans have never seen before.”
As The Escapist pointed out in their report , considering that Modern Warfare 3 is Amazon’s most pre-ordered game, Black Ops 2 ‘s numbers are quite impressive, and perhaps show that there’s still plenty of life in the franchise yet.
Given that just about everyone seems to be disgusted by the Call of Duty franchise, is Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 ‘s massive pre-order numbers a surprise to you?
