Gwyneth Paltrow is again drawing attention to her website, oddly named Goop, with more advice that Paltrow claims will help women strengthen their pelvic floor muscles following childbirth.
“Try peeing in the shower squatting down,” Ms. Paltrow wrote on her website . “When you squat to pee as opposed to sitting up straight on the toilet, you automatically engage your pelvic floor and it naturally stretches and tones.”
Paltrow’s site goes on to explain that by strengthening the pelvic floor muscles, which is a group of muscles located at the bottom of the pelvis, women will have more control over their bladder and bowel movements, as well as improving sexual performance and orgasms. Strengthening those muscles will also provide women with more stabilized hips, suggested Gwyneth.
Gwyneth, a mother of two children herself , also suggested that having more sex will also improve muscle control in that same area, while allowing women to engage in activities that “your partner will love.”
“Having sex is not only fun, but it’s great for your body, mind, spirit, and pelvic floor – and it helps you exist in the moment,” Gwyneth adds. “Sex chemically elevates mood and reduces depression, and orgasms trigger a rush of endorphins and human growth hormones, while also reducing cortisol levels. Practice squeezes and letting go… your partner will love it!”
This hasn’t been the first time Gwyneth Paltrow has offered up some fairly off-the-wall beauty and health tips to those following her website. Previously, Ms. Paltrow has practiced and recommended the use of bee stings to treat injuries. To be more clear, Gwyneth is suggesting that by provoking a live bee into stinging oneself, the venom transmitted into the bloodstream may heal another injury.
“The craziest treatment I’ve tried is one where I was stung by a live bee. It’s called apitherapy and it’s apparently been used since Egyptian times to promote healing,” Ms. Paltrow said.
Ms. Paltrow is well-known by her fans for the use of unusual and holistic treatments, which she shares openly on her website. While all of Gwyneth’s advice isn’t as odd as bee sting therapy and peeing in the shower, most of Gwyneth’s advice does go against the common grain. For instance, Ms. Paltrow has suggested that yawns should never be suppressed, regardless of the situation.
“The reality is that it’s a very important mechanism for releasing stress,” Ms. Paltrow advises . “It feels good for a reason: Trust that your body knows how to calibrate itself.”
