The Lesley Davis , Lyle Herring murder case will air on Fatal Attraction tonight on TV One. 46-year old Lesley Ann Davis, also known as Lesley Ann Herring, is an African American woman who vanished in 2009 from her California home. Her husband, Lyle Herring, was eventually convicted of murder in the case. Lesley Davis, sometimes spelled as Leslie Davis, is the sister of Grey’s Anatomy actress Aasha Davis.
Lesley Davis Herring’s case was in the news in 2009, after she was reported missing by her family. The family discovered that she was missing after her boss contacted them, stating that Lesley had failed to show up to work in two days. Her family knew immediately that something was wrong, since Lesley was known as a very responsible person who would never allow her mother, sister, and brother to worry about her. They also believed that her husband, who vanished for two weeks after her disappearance, knew more about it than he claimed. According to Lyle, they had a fight, and she left the home while he was sleeping.
Lesley Davis Herring (Leslie Davis) was a cultured, sophisticated woman— a woman with her life together who was looking for a romantic partner. She thought that when she met Lyle Herring 11 years earlier in the $0.99 store that she had met someone that she could connect with.
According to Lesley’s sister, he showed her around town and the two seemed to be the perfect couple. Within a year, they married, and by all accounts Lesley and Lyle were two people who seemed to be very much In love. The lovers went everywhere together, and even dressed a like. Lesley Herring’s mom said that Lyle was closer to her family than he was to his own family.
Despite the couple’s seemingly perfect relationship, before long, their differences would cause severe problems, and would ultimately lead to the end of their relationship and Lesley’s life.
Those who knew her say that Lesley was extremely organized, had a steady job, and was financially responsible. Lyle, on the other hand, lived a more unstable life and constantly found himself in financial difficulty. Lesley confided in her mother about her stressful marriage. Her mother was the only person in whom she could confide because she was a very proud woman who didn’t want other people to know about the problems that were going on in her life. So when Lesley complained to her mother one day about their financial problems, her mother responded: “What did you expect? You met him in the $0.99 store.”
Even still, she told Lesley that if she wanted to leave Lyle, that she should do it without telling him. Sadly, prosecutors say that she didn’t heed her mother’s advise. They came across a letter that Lesley had written to her husband, telling him that she wanted to leave him. Investigators believe that on the last night of her life, the two fought about that letter in the bathroom, where Lyle Herring may have drowned her. Then, according to prosecutors, he most likely rolled her up in a carpet and transported her out of the home. He may have gotten away with the crime, if the neighbor had not seen him carrying the carpet out of the home.
At trial, a jury found 59-year old Lyle Herring guilty and sentenced him to 15 years to life. The Lesley Herring–Leslie Davis case was featured on an episode of Dateline NBC. Tune in to TV One tonight to see how they chronicle the case on Fatal Attraction .
