Nicki Minaj may have garnered praise for her eyebrow-raising “Anaconda” music video that dropped earlier this year, but it doesn’t look like MTV has the same praise for the chart-topping rapper.

MTV announced their list of nominees for this year’s Video Music Awards early Tuesday morning, with multiple nods going to some of music’s biggest names including Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Beyoncé, and Ellie Goulding, Today reports.

While Minaj was nominated for “Best Hip-Hop Video” for her work in “Anaconda,” Nicki took to Twitter to make sure MTV knew she wasn’t pleased with this year’s list of nominees.

Minaj retweeted MTV’s congratulatory post about her “Best Hip-Hop Video” nom, however, threw shade at the VMAs when she learned that she got snubbed for her “Feeling Myself” music video with Beyoncé.

“Hey guys @MTV thank you for my nominations. Did Feeling Myself miss the deadline or…?”

Soon after Minaj’s tweet went viral, fans began showing their support for Nicki by also questioning MTV about Minaj’s VMAs snub. One fan writes, “@NICKIMINAJ @MTV BETTA ANSWER RN!!! WHERES FEELING MYSELF?!? AND WHY ANACONDA ISNT NOMINATED FOR VID OF THE YEAR?!?” Minaj began retweeting her fans’ supportive messages, with most asking why “Anaconda” was snubbed for “Video Of The Year” despite it breaking the Vevo record for the most video views in only 24 hours. One fan adds, “@MTV so anaconda broke the VEVO record and it’s not up for video of the year???” Minaj chimed in on the ongoing debate, telling followers that if she were a “different kind” of artist, “Anaconda” would have been nominated for several different categories at this year’s awards.

“If I was a different ‘kind’ or artist, Anaconda would be nominated for best choreo and vid of the year as well.”

Minaj continued her Twitter rant by arguing that “Anaconda” became an overnight sensation, garnering limitless social media attention.

“U couldn’t go on social media w/o seeing ppl doing the cover art, choreo, outfits for Halloween…an impact like that & no VOTY nomination? When the “other” girls drop a video that breaks records and impacts culture they get that nomination.”

Minaj concluded her shade-throwing rant with, “Ok love u guys I have to get ready. Keep reppin me, do it til the death of me. X in the box. Cuz ain’t nobody checkin me.”

While Fuse TV reports Taylor Swift successfully dethroned Nicki Minaj for Vevo’s most plays in a 24-hour time period with her star-studded “Bad Blood” video that dropped in May, fans continue to express their displeasure for Minaj being snubbed at this year’s Video Music Awards.
