Sons of Anarchy ‘s prequel may soon see its stars cruising on their Harley Davidsons and Triumph Bonnevilles on the big screen.
Fans of the widely-followed FX show were left distraught when the final season wound itself up last December. Sons of Anarchy went down in history as one of the most loved dramas on television. And it is, perhaps, that love from the fans which has prompted the show’s creator, Kurt Sutter, to announce that a prequel is in the making.
According to Empire News , Sutter confessed to having contemplated a big-screen Sons of Anarchy prequel.
“People absolutely loved the show, as did I, and I have put a lot of thought into the matter, and we are going forward with turning it into a feature film.”
If that wasn’t good enough, here’s the kicker: not only is Charlie Hunnam poised to reprise his role as Jackson “Jax” Teller in Sons of Anarchy ‘s reported prequel, he will be supported by none other than Hollywood headliner Brad Pitt, who will apparently don the role of his father, John Teller. In a recent interview with Men’s Journal , Charlie Hunnam confirmed that Sutter is indeed looking at the possibilities of a prequel.
“He’s trying to do a prequel, which I would love to see. Kurt is trying to get it going. Did you read that about Brad Pitt maybe playing my dad? Brad Pitt as John Teller. How awesome would that be?”

Sutter has also confirmed the speculations regarding Brad Pitt’s association with the Sons of Anarchy prequel film in Empire News .
“I am most excited about bringing Brad [Pitt] on as John Teller, he is absolutely perfect for the role. The movie will take place from the day Jax was born, and leads up to the era just before Sons Of Anarchy began as a series.”
So when can we expect Sons of Anarchy ‘s film version to hit the big screen? With Sutter’s present commitments, the most important of which is his latest show The Bastard Executioner, which is poised to be yet another Sutter runaway hit, it doesn’t look like the Sons of Anarchy prequel will be hitting cinemas anytime soon. Sutter was frank about the possible date in his interview with IGN .
“We wouldn’t do that [the prequel] for a couple of years.”
And for fans who simply can’t wait that long, here is the good news — an iOS game, The Prospect , based on Sons of Anarchy , has been launched by Orpheus Interactive, and if reports are to be believed, its narrative is as taut as the TV drama series. Kurt Sutter spoke about why the narrative matters so much to him, even if it just a game.
“I didn’t want it just to be download and ride a bike and club somebody. Not that there’s not some of that involved but I wanted it to be story driven and character driven.”
