With the release of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 still a few months out, Lionsgate has officially released two new posters in preparation for the film’s highly anticipated premiere. The posters are part of the Faces of Revolution set and depict Liam Hemsworth and Jennifer Lawrence preparing for the coming war.
One poster, released by Entertainment Weekly , shows a close up of Hemsworth as Gale Hawthorne with his face painted in a red Mockingjay symbol. Gale appears serious in the poster and looks like he is ready to commit to the coming war against President Snow (Donald Sutherland).
Meanwhile, the other poster that has been released depicts a close up of Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen. Like Gale, Katniss appears fierce and ready for war with her face painted with the same scarlet red Mockingjay symbol.
Both posters contain the caption: “Unite D13 The Revolution Is About All Of Us.”
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 will continue the story of Katniss as she leads the revolution against President Snow. Unlike the last movie, Mockingjay – Part 2 is expected to feature a lot of fighting and battle scenes as the franchise gears up for the final showdown between Katniss and Snow.
However, the film isn’t going to only feature battle scenes. As per the trailer that was released last month, the film will also include a wedding between two fan favorites. The marriage ceremony will see Finnick (Sam Claflin) and Annie (Stef Dawson) finally tie the knot. Also shown in attendance are Joanna (Jena Malone), Effie (Elizabeth Banks), President Coin (Julianne Moore), Haymitch (Woody Harrelson), and Plutarch (Philip Seymour Hoffman).
At the same time, the new movie is also set to introduce a few more strong female characters. Michelle Forbes ( True Blood ) is set to be introduced as Lieutenant Jackson, while Gwendoline Christie ( Game of Thrones ) will be appearing as Commander Lym. Lym is a former winner of the Hunger Games and is one of the leaders of the rebellion.
In regards to the film’s inclusion of female parts, director Francis Lawrence stated that it was one aspect of the books that was great to adapt to the big screen.
“There is some serious girl power in this movie,”Lawrence stated to Entertainment Weekly . “She [Suzanne Collins] wrote it that way, and it’s been so much fun to inhabit.”
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 is set to premiere in theaters on November 20.
