Madonna Pissed About Lourdes Smoking

Back in late March Lourdes Ciccone Leon, 15, daughter to superstar Madonna was caught by the paparazzi smoking a few cigarettes in New York.

When the pictures broke out on the Internet, much of the bloggers took to criticize Lourdes’ mother, Madonna, for her bad influence. However, now Madonna, 53, has spoken out about Lourdes’ smoking, and she’s not too happy about it.

Madonna took to MSNBC’s Rock Center to exercise her right as a parent and a pop culture icon and vocalized her opinion over her daughter’s puff habit, “I don’t approve of anyone smoking cigarettes, most of all, my daughter,” said Madonna.

The interview, which ran on the Today show also featured more excerpts from Madonna, who also addressed her critics, “I think I am [a tough mom] but I don’t think I’m as tough as I should be,” she said. “I think maybe I should be tougher but it’s hard.”

Although Madonna is known world wide for her flashy outfits and her coming-of-age stage antics of the 80s and 90s, Madonna swears that her children only see one side of her, and that’s mother. “To my children, there’s the one that comes home and says, ‘Are you doing your homework? Why did you say that? What are you eating that for?’” Even though the star was a bit hard on herself, she had time to get a few laughs in at her own expense, having quipped, “I imagine it must be [hard being me] … because I complain all the time.”

As far as settling down to that one specific role of being a mother, Madonna doesn’t plan to slow down anytime soon. Currently the entertainer is rehearsing for an upcoming world tour, of her future plans she said, “I certainly have stuff left to say, I still feel like expressing myself — I’ll keep doing this as long as I do.”

Do you think the media has a right to criticize Madonna’s parenting skills?
