Although Jon Snow appeared to have met his end during the Season 5 finale of Game of Thrones , many fans are having a hard time believing he is really dead. With that in mind, here are four reasons why Snow’s run on the series isn’t over yet.
The first reason why Snow will return to the show is related to the parts of his storyline that haven’t been resolved. The writers of the series set up this season to finally reveal who Snow’s true parents are, which they did not set straight by the end of the season. To think that they would have spent so much time setting this up without planning on doing something with it in the future is highly unlikely.
Secondly, Game of Thrones author George R.R Martin doesn’t even seemed convinced that Snow is dead for good.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly back in 2011, Martin stated “Oh, you think he’s dead, do you?… My readers should know better than to take anything as gospel.”
The words from the author himself certainly hold weight, and they seem to point to the idea that Snow is going to return at some point.
Thirdly, the words that Kit Harington and others have said about Snow’s death seem to leave the door open for a possible return. Although Harington has bluntly stated that he will not be in Season 6, he did not say anything about the seasons beyond that. Furthermore, none of them have officially stated that Snow is dead for good and that he will not be coming back. In fact, the phrase Weiss used in an interview with Variety to describe Snow’s death as “Dead is Dead.” This wording might be a reference to the books, where some wildlings died and then came back to life. Could Snow be set to do the same?
Lastly, Harington’s hair might indicate that his character will return at some point. Although the actor was seen in an interview with Entertainment Weekly following the finale with shorter hair, that doesn’t indicate he won’t be back. Harington actually had a clause in his contract with HBO that stated he wasn’t allowed to cut hit hair. However, he had already cut his hair prior the end of the season in order to fit into a wig for another project he is working on, titled Testament of Youth . Furthermore, according the Vanity Fair , Harington’s hair is just as long as it’s ever been.
See if Jon Snow really is dead when Season 6 of Game of Thrones premieres in the spring of 2016.
