Sia has just won the PETA Australia’s Sexiest Celebrity Vegetarian award for 2014.
Sia Kate Isobelle Furler, the Australian singer, songwriter, and music video editor, overcame some tough competition for over a month from other Australian vegetarian celebrities like swimsuit models Renee Somerfield, Ellie Gonsalves, and Sheridyn Fisher; musicians John Butler, Xavier Rudd, and Missy Higgins; and actors Radha Mitchell, Sophie Monk, and others. The “ Chandelier” hit-maker was awarded the prize based on many factors, including the vote count, reported the PETA website.
This award came as a pleasant surprise to Sia, after having won the Best Female Artist, Best Album, Best Pop Release and Best Video at the ARIAs this year. The US version of the same award, PETA’s Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity USA went to Miley Cyrus this year. The pop star turned activist won the award overcoming the competition from Ariana Grande and Ellie Goulding among others, reported Music Times .
Sia, the four-time Grammy nominated singer, is known to share her home with several adopted dogs as a way of helping homeless pets. She has also been a part of the advertisement by PETA Asia-Pacific, where she featured with her dog, Pantera, to encourage pet-neutering.
The shy singer is famous for her hit singles “Chandelier” — which reached the Number 8 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart — and “Elastic Heart.”
She is also known to hide her face during most of her concerts, said that she is “fully vegan now!” in her tweet in May 2014.
@HectorRochas I will! I’m fully vegan now!

With her multiple ARIA awards and now the much acclaimed Sexiest Celebrity Vegetarian, Sia has been recently declared as the third most powerful figure in the Australian Music Industry.
Even though Sia started winning the initial poll for the PETA’s Sexiest Celebrity Vegetarian award in 2012, beating the likes of Ash Grunwald, Missy Higgins, and John Butler, she eventually lost it to Missy Higgins, a contemporary Australian singer and song writer , after the latter garnered gradual votes in the later stages, reported Adelaide Now .
Sia is not only an animal lover and doing her best to help homeless pets; she has also joined the “Oscar’s Law” campaign, in protest against large-scale pet breeding. She is also a supporter of the Beagle freedom project and performed “I’m in Here” live at the Beagle Freedom Project Gala in September 2009.
