With the first season of Outlander finished and Season 2 currently in production, many fans are clamoring for any news regarding the upcoming season. With that in mind, here are a number of spoilers that should get any fan excited for what’s to come on the hit time-traveling drama.

While the first season primarily took place in Scotland, the new season will shift its setting to Paris, France.

“It’s a great setting, and what was one of the most populated cities in the world at that time,” Ron Moore explained to E! Online . “French society, it’s Aristocracy, the colors are brighter…It’s going to look and feel very different, which is exciting.”

Meanwhile, the setting isn’t the only thing that’s going to change in Season 2. Both Jamie and Claire will be about 20 years older. But don’t worry, Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe will be sticking around to reprise their roles despite the jump in age.

“I think it’ll be fun. I think it’s great to be able to play someone’s life,” Balfe recently told Zap2It . “So often it’s all chronological and you play the one age. Now I get to play a woman who has a child who’s in her late teens who’s gone through this whole life of experience.”

Elsewhere, the new season will feature a variety of new characters, including a brand new villain. According to E! News , the villain this time around will be Le Compte St. Germain (Stanley Weber). St. Germain is in the wine business and a member of the French Court who quickly becomes an enemy of Claire. In addition to St. Germain, the season will also include Jaime’s cousin, Black Jack’s brother, and Jaime’s ex-lover.

Given the success of Season 1 and the hype surrounding Season 2, many fans have taken to social media to support Heughan, Balfe, and Tobias Menzie in their respective bids for a 2015 Emmy Award. In light of this news, author Diana Gabaldon talked about how fans have embraced the series and made it their own.

“The fans have taken the TV series into their hearts with equal — if not greater! — enthusiasm, and it’s well-deserved,” Gabaldon told Zap2It .”The show is a marvelous adaptation of the book, and every facet of the production, from writing, directing and acting to costume and set design, has been handled with an artistry, excitement and attention to detail that I’ve seldom seen in television.”

Outlander Season 2 is expected to premiere on Starz in 2016.
