It’s been less than two weeks since Lindsay Lohan was formally freed from supervised probation but the 25-year-old actress has already found herself smack dab in the middle of another debacle.
According to TMZ , Marissa Sullivan Dugas, a 34-year-old waitress, filed a police battery report on Saturday claiming that Lohan had pushed and shoved her in an argument over a man at a nightclub at the Standard Hotel in West Hollywood.
Lindsay’s reps, however, say the alleged incident — which reportedly happened on Thursday evening — is a sham.
“Lindsay was never at the club and the whole thing is one big lie. Whomever started this will be held accountable for their malicious and unfounded accusations,” said Lohan’s spokesman Steve Honig.
In addition to Lohan’s alibi (she was at her home all Thursday night watching Homeland ), the Hollywood Gossip writes that six people at the hotel, some of whom were working on the night in question, have said they did not see Lindsay there, putting Dugas’ credibility in doubt.
Police officers are investigating the allegations, and the star’s lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, has now revealed she is hoping for a prosecution if the woman is found to have not been honest with cops.
Holley tells TMZ:
“If it’s true that someone made false accusations against Ms. Lohan and reported those false claims to police, we will take appropriate action — which includes seeking the prosecution of that individual.”
ABC writes that filing a false police report is a crime in California, punishable by 6 months in jail.
Readers chime in: Do you think Lindsay Lohan is guilty of battery or is Marissa Sullivan Dugas just another individual trying to cash in on the actress’ tarnished past?
