Did Empire’s Taraji P. Henson spill the beans about the upcoming season of Empire ? Looks like she did. Henson decided to reveal the date of Empire’s season premiere to all the fans.
According to Taraji, Fox has officially slated Empire’s second season for September 23. The show will still be on at Wednesdays at 9 p.m., proving that they aren’t fixing anything that doesn’t need adjusting.
Taraji, who plays Cookie Lyon on the show, took to Twitter to delight fans that Empire will not be coming back during the mid-season like its premiere but instead will be back starting September.

As far as Season 2 goes, we don’t have a lot to go on, but we do have confirmation that it’s going to be a star studded season of Empire . According to Deadline , Fox has already lined up impressive stars, including Chris Rock, Lenny Kravitz, and Alicia Keys.
In addition to the star studded guest stars, there’s also very prominent stars in music working behind the scenes as well. If hip hop producer Timabland isn’t enough, Fox also tapped R&B star Ne-Yo to contribute original music to the show.
In addition, cast mates Gabourey Sidibe and Ta’Rhonda Jones have been bumped up to series regulars, which means their roles will expand for Season 2.
As for what’s in store for Season 2, executive producer Ilene Chaiken didn’t give any hints to E! Online back in March.
“No, we haven’t started at all. [Executive producers] Lee Daniels and Danny Strong and I have talked very casually about it and we have some ideas, and there were some markers that were thrown down at the end of our first season and our finale last night that clearly we’re going to pick up and run with. But beyond that, we haven’t even begun to break stories for season two.”
Are you ready for Empire’s second season?
