Josh Duggar’s joke, a video of which has resurfaced since his admittance of his “wrongdoing,” is now haunting the 19 Kids and Counting star.
Duggar has been in the headlines recently after In Touch magazine uncovered a police report suggesting he had molested four of his younger siblings when he was 14-years-old.
Now a new video clip shows Josh making an apparent joke about siblings dating. In the clip, which comes from an episode when the TLC show was called 17 Kids and Counting , Josh is trying to find someone to chaperone his then-fiancée, now-wife, Anna.
As previously reported, the Duggars follow strict rules when it comes to dating — or “courting” as they refer to it — which means there is no kissing before marriage, and a chaperon must accompany them on all dates. When Josh finds out that his younger sister Jinger Duggar cannot serve as a chaperone, he suggests asking his other siblings, Jana and John David Duggar, referring to it as a “double date.”
“So, we chose Jana and John David – we thought why not, have a double date,” Josh said.
The camera then cuts, and when it comes back, Josh is laughing and says, “We are from Arkansas, no?”
On Friday, it was revealed that Josh had sexually abused five young girls, including four of his sisters, in 2002 and 2003. Following the news, Duggar took to Facebook to admit his actions in a lengthy statement.
“Twelve years ago, as a young teenager I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret. I hurt others, including my family and close friends. I confessed this to my parents who took several steps to help me address the situation. We spoke with the authorities where I confessed my wrongdoing and my parents arranged for me and those affected by my actions to receive counseling.
“I understood that if I continued down this wrong road that I would end up ruining my life. I sought forgiveness from those I had wronged and asked Christ to forgive me and come into my life. I would do anything to go back to those teen years and take different actions. In my life today, I am so very thankful for God’s grace, mercy and redemption.”
According to the New York Daily News , Josh admitted to fondling the breasts and genitals of the young girls, sometimes while they were asleep.
Josh has since resigned from his position as a lobbyist with the Family Research Council, an organization that is dedicated to preserving the family values in America. TLC also made the decision to pull the long-running reality show.
