Kendra Richard and Tamika Cobb are facing criminal charges after the two officers looted shops during the Baltimore riots. Worse yet, the thievery was caught on video.
In a related report by the Inquisitr , the Baltimore mayor, Erin Burnett, and President Obama were slammed for calling rioters “thugs.”
The Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services said the two officers looted a closed 7-Eleven along with dozens of other people. They were busted for burglary and theft after their bosses were alerted to a YouTube video (shown above), which shows the two officers looting the place in their search for chips and Slim Jims.
People were shocked when they realized the identities of the two women.
“They dumb and dumber. It was like no way … they’re going jeopardize their jobs like that,” Sharon Oliver said.
Both Cobb and Richard are nine year veterans of the Baltimore Reception Diagnostic Classification Center, but the leaders of the department say the actions of these two women should not reflect poorly on the overall corrections department.
“We will not allow the vast majority of our employees who are honest and hardworking to be tainted by the actions of a few ,” said Stephen Moyer, the department’s secretary, according to the NY Daily News .
State Senator Michael Hough disagrees, saying that if two officers looted as part of the Baltimore riots, then that indicates there are serious issues within the jail system.
“Obviously, we still have a big problem if we have people who are supposed to be protecting the public who are then rioting, or joining in rioting and looting ,” Hough said, according to CBS .
Correction officers Kendra Richard and Tamika Cobb are currently suspended without pay. After being arrested and charged, they were released on bond. They will both face a judge next month.
