It’s official! Hilary Duff is a proud mother! The pop singer/actress took to Twitter to announce the birth of her son, Luca Cruz Comrie.
Hilary Duff, 24, and her husband, ex-Pittsburgh Penguin Mike Comrie, 31, welcomed their son on Tuesday evening. Duff tweeted “Welcome to the World Luca Cruz Comrie! Tuesday evening, we became proud parents of a healthy 7 pound 6 ounce beautiful boy.”
Duff continues with, “we are overjoyed and feel like the luckiest parents in the world. He is surrounded by so much love!! Mom and baby are both doing extremely well.”
A few months back Hilary described the pregnancy as “kind of like a little alien has taken over your body. You just don’t quite feel normal.”
In December of 2011 Duff told US Weekly about advice from others impending the birth of her son, “People keep saying to me, ‘Sleep right now. Get your sleep!’ I keep saying, ‘I just want the baby here! I want to play and I’m ready to see what he looks like.’”
As for her career options Hilary suggests that after she settles into her new role as mommy she’ll eventually turn to music. “I think that after I have the baby I’ll want to sit still for a few months and learn how to be a really good mom, ” Duff has said. “And then there’s no reason why I can’t put a record out and tour … It might take a little while but I’m really excited about it.”
The proud parents started dating in 2007, and three years later announced their engagement. The pair got married on August 14th, 2010 in Santa Barbara, California. Later on Hilary Duff announced her pregnancy, “extremely happy and ready to start this new chapter of our lives.”
