Walt Disney World is undergoing a lot of changes over the next few years. The acquisitions of Lucasfilm and Marvel have opened the doors for so many things, many of which are coming soon. Disney has announced that opening this fall will be an Indiana Jones-themed bar, and excitement is picking up.
The Disney Parks Blog reported that the new bar will be coming to the Downtown Disney (soon-to-be Disney Springs) area this fall. The aviation-themed lounge and bar will officially be called Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar.
“Ardent fans of the ‘Indiana Jones’ films may recognize Jock Lindsey as Indy’s frequent pilot; he’s also the owner of a pet snake named Reggie – an important detail, trust me on this! In the main room, guests will discover an expansive bar, aviation decor filling the room, vintage travel posters covering the walls and correspondence between Jock, Indy and their fellow adventurers on display. Guests can eat, drink and be merry outside as well, in Jocks’ old steamboat, now in permanent dry dock and aptly named ‘Reggie;’ and in nearby seating on the adjacent deck.”
Downtown Disney is getting a complete overhaul as it is being turned into the Disney Springs area that will be bustling with over 150 shops, restaurants, and more. Work is ongoing at Walt Disney World and is expected to be completed sometime in 2016.
Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar is going to remind fans just how it was in the films and will also focus on memorabilia and scenes from the movie.
IGN made a point to let everyone know that for those not familiar with Jock Lindsey , it’s time to go watch the franchise again. Jock Lindsey is the pilot who helped Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark and the owner of the snake that Indy had in his lap.
The menu will have some Indiana Jones-themed food as well, including Rolling Boulders Meatball and Air Pirates Everything Pretzels. Make sure to peruse the drink menu as well and have a Hovito Mojito sometime.
Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar will have seating for 150 people, and those visiting Downtown Disney this fall will need to likely get there early for a seat or experience a long wait. Walt Disney World is bringing about new experiences in dining and fun that are only going to entice more guests to come each year.
