A Duck Dynasty musical called The Duck Commander Musical is being canceled after only one month of shows in Las Vegas. But why would they have Duck Dynasty canceled so soon?
In a related report by the Inquisitr , it is said that the Duck Dynasty musical shows the true spirit of the Robertson family.
The Duck Dynasty musical was based on a 2012 book written by Korie and Willie Robertson. The Duck Commander Musical launched on April 15, 2015 at the Rio Hotel and Casino and was supposed to run through at least June 30, 2015, according to the original plans. But apparently, the musical has been failing to attract audiences to the 680-seat Crown Theater, so they are planning on having the Duck Dynasty musical canceled early, with the last showing being set for May 17, 2015.
According to Playbill , the production team is hoping that The Duck Commander Musical may quack back to life outside of Las Vegas.
“The production is thrilled to have had the opportunity to develop the Duck Commander Musical at the Rio. Much has been learned from this limited engagement, and from the great support from everyone who has come to see this first staging of this completely new musical. Duck Commander will now consider several possible opportunities for the next stage in the life of the show, including extended sit-down engagements in interested cities, as well as a national tour.”
Here is how the Duck Dynasty musical was billed.
“ The Duck Commander Musical transports the Louisiana bayou to the Las Vegas stage in a captivating 90-minute show – seasoned with all the southern spirit and down-to-earth humor you expect from America’s most famous rednecks, the Robertson family. But while the true-to-life, rags-to-riches story behind A&E’s mega hit ‘Duck Dynasty’ will surely please its most loyal fans, audiences unfamiliar with the Robertsons will also find themselves charmed – and even moved – by this surprising tale of faith, food, and family.”
Apparently, this rendition was enough to make Willie Robertson cry when he saw the first show back in April.
“It’s emotional at times,” Willie said. “I was crying watching it because you just think about if something were to happen differently, then none of this would have happened. The media scrutiny and all this thing we went through, all that’s played out in the musical. Some of the characters, man, they’ve got us down. Not just the way they talk but all their mannerisms, they’ve really done their job on getting us as lifelike as possible.”
Would you want the Duck Dynasty musical Duck Commander to come to your hometown? Why do you think it failed in Las Vegas?
