We’ve arrived at that pivotal part of The Voice and pretty much all singing competitions. You know, where that one person is blatantly mediocre but manages to stay way past when they should have been booted? The Voice can be credited with going above and beyond to try and prevent this with various “fail-safes,” but no series is perfect.
It will be curious as to whether or not these persons survive another week, because usually Top 8/Top 6 is about the point where every other (sane) voting member of the Voice audience breathes a sigh of relief.
Now, who qualifies on this season of The Voice ? There is actually a couple of names that spring to mind.
Hannah Kirby is fun, but take away the quirky dancing and you are left with the weakest woman vocalist remaining on The Voice . I would have rated her as weaker than Mia Z , but young Mia failed to enunciate. In truth, better singers have gone home, so it’s fair to suggest that Kirby should have already left the show.
Luckily for Hannah, she’s a very popular contestant. It’s highly likely that her popularity will keep her around on The Voice for another week rather than the strength of her vocal performance.
I’ve picked on him a few times already, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the man I feel should have already gone is Corey Kent White. Not only were better singers over all eliminated ahead of Corey, better country singers went home. The majority of the appeal attached to White is his looks . Christina Aguilera implied it; I’ll say it outright.
He has the fan girl vote locked in, and a segment of country fans who will vote for him because he’s a country artist on Blake Shelton’s team. If he weren’t locked into the most stubbornly loyal cross-section of Voice voters, he would have already left.
Of the two, I would say Hannah’s prolonged stay on The Voice is more forgivable because she has more personality and is undeniably unique. However, when Hannah and Corey are placed next to everyone else remaining on the show, it’s pretty obvious that these are the two people who are most deserving of a plane ticket home.
#TeamBlake remains untouched! Let’s hear it for @CoreyKentWhite @meghanlinsey @IamHannahKirby ! #VoiceTop8 pic.twitter.com/gcnwiMcjuv

My opinion on these two isn’t written in stone. We saw Koryn Hawthorne turn things completely around with a performance that revealed there was more to her than mediocrity. It’s quite possible that one or both of these Voice contestants has one of those performances inside of them. Still, it’s very likely that if we haven’t seen it until now, we’ll probably never see it.
Do you think I’m way off? Which person(s) do you think should have already left The Voice ? Comment below!
