Samsung Europe Bringing Android 4.0 To Galaxy S II

Samsung on Monday confirmed that Galaxy S II users in Europe would be receiving the new Google Android 4.0 mobile operating system.

As of Tuesday phones in Hungary, Poland and Sweden were already receiving the new mobile OS while Korea is expected to receive the mobile OS at the same time.

After those initial country releases Samsung says the 4.0 platform will “gradually roll out” to other countries.

While Europe will soon receive the new Android 4.0 update the United States release may come late because of hardware differences that exist in the US version of the Smartphone compared to the European version.

Samsung has also announced that the 4.0 update will be coming “soon” for the Galaxy Note, Galaxy S II LTE, Galaxy Tab 8.9, and Galaxy Tab 10.1.

In other Samsung update news the company revealed that older devices will not receive Android 4.0, however devices with an OS older than Android 2.3 will be eligible for that version of the mobile OS. Among Samsung devices that will receive the Android 2.3 updates are, the original Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab, the Galaxy S Plus, the LCD-equipped Galacy S SCL, and the Galaxy W.

Android 2.3 was released more than one year ago however the features of that OS will still be a welcomed change for older Smartphone device users who want a more streamlined mobile OS with better app support for new application offerings.

Will you be updating your Google Android based device to Android 4.0 when its eligible? I have a feeling the answer to that question is a resounding yes for almost all Google Android smartphone users.
