Kristen Lindsey , a Texas veterinarian, was fired after she posted a picture to Facebook, bragging about shooting a feral cat through the head with a bow.
Lindsey, a former DVM at Washington Animal Clinic in Brenham, posted the picture of her holding the orange and white tom cat up with an arrow still through its head. Along with the graphic picture, Lindsey included a cryptic message.
“My first bow kill lol. The only good feral tomcat is one with an arrow through it’s head! Vet of the year award…gladly accepted.”
Kristen posted the photo last week, and since then, police have started an investigation and she was terminated from the clinic , according to the Huffington Post .
“Dear Friends, Clients, and other interested folks. We just learned of the conduct that is discussed below. We are absolutely appalled, shocked, upset, and disgusted by the conduct,” the clinic said in a statement. “We have parted ways with Ms. Lindsey. We do not allow such conduct and we condemn it in the strongest possible manner. Please know that when informed of this we responded swiftly and appropriately and please do not impute this awful conduct to the Washington Animal Clinic or any of its personnel.”
A petition on Change.org has also been created in hopes of having Lindsey’s veterinary licence revoked.
“‘My first bow kill LOL. The only good feral tomcat is one with an arrow through it’s head! Vet of the year award…gladly accepted’ was the words of this sadistic deranged licensed Austin County, Texas, veterinarian, Kristen Lindsey, who also operates on people’s pets. If you all allow her to practice medicine on our pets, you are irresponsible allowing this lunatic to even touch our animals. Please do the right thing, and permanently revoke her license due to lack of ethics and violating the trust of her profession. She’s not fit to serve as a vet. She of all people should already know about suffering and agony of animals–and dying from bows and arrows is a very slow, agonizing painful death. You can tell from her boastful post she ENJOYED and was proud of inflicting this cruelty on defenseless animals. Please do not let her touch our pets anymore.”
“She belongs behind bars for animal cruelty.”
“Thank you.”
So far, the petition has garnered 19,045 supporters. They still need 5,955 to reach their goal of 25,000 signatures.
Kristen Lindsey has since deleted her Facebook page and the photo of her holding the cat she killed. It is not known whether or not she will face charges.
