Kim Kardashian Censored By Israeli News Site For Being ‘Pornographic Symbol’

Kim Kardashian was censored by an Israeli news site in a decision that highlights its religious practices. Although photos of the reality TV personality are highly valued in the United States and many other countries, both Kim’s name and image were edited out, reported Celebuzz .

Editor of Kikar HaShabbat Nissim Ben Haim defended the decision to modify the photo that originally showed Kim with husband Kanye West and the mayor of Jerusalem. The media organization also referred to her only as Kanye West’s wife rather than use her name.

“[Kim is a] pornographic symbol,” said Haim. “Within the insular Ultra-Orthodox community, pictures of women often aren’t shown out of modesty.”

But Mayor Nir Barkat experienced no such concerns. He shared the photo on Facebook with a celebratory caption of their arrival.

“Raising a glass to Jerusalem with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West! I asked them to serve as Jerusalem’s ambassadors and spread the word that Jerusalem is an open city and welcomes everyone.”

Although his post earned more than 2,300 “Likes” from his followers, not everyone was so impressed.

“Sorry, but a waste of your valuable time,” wrote one person, getting 30 agreements.

The Israeli news site also criticized the mayor, reported the Telegraph . The attack stemmed from Barkat’s choice of joining Kim and Kanye for a meal that features non-kosher article.

“Barkat hosts famous couple in a restaurant that serves treif [non-kosher food],” read the story’s headline.

The article contended that the mayor was insensitive to those who followed Kosher food guidelines. Rather than showing Kim’s face, the modified photo featured a restaurant bill that revealed a listing for chicken in butter au gratin. That recipe is against Kosher guidelines because it combines dairy with meat.

“[The mayer displayed] insensitivity to the majority of city-dwellers who keep Kosher [by dining at a] non-kosher restaurant that violates the Sabbath,” said the story.

However, the Mayor received support from the Jerusalem City Council, which noted that he had avoided consuming any non-Kosher food.

Kim and Kanye made the unexpected visit to Jerusalem to baptize North West.

As the Inquisitr reported, Kim Kardashian previously has been criticized for going too far in displaying her body in images, such as her Paper magazine that exposed her full body. But while some media blocked parts of her body in reporting on that story, her name hasn’t been censored until now.
