The next episode of The Big Bang Theory is going to be out-of-this-word! According to a recent report, the show is about to introduce a few aliens to the mix. So will this be the series’ big jump-the-shark moment, or will viewers embrace the Earth’s future extraterrestrial overlords? Before you read on, be forewarned that spoilers are ahead.
Big Bang Theory fans know how thrilled Dr. Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) and the rest of the gang would be to make contact with alien life, and they’re going to get the chance to try tomorrow night. The International Business Times recently shared the full synopsis for “ The Communication Deterioration ,” which you can read below.
“In the event of alien contact, NASA asks Raj (Kunal Nayyar) to craft a message for the extraterrestrials, and the guys battle over how it should be handled. Meanwhile, Penny (Kaley Cuoco) must decide between auditioning for a film role or keeping her job in pharmaceutical sales.”
CarterMatt shared a few video clips from the upcoming Big Bang Theory episode, and one of them shows Raj enlisting Leonard (Johnny Galecki) to help him with his very important project. Raj explains that he didn’t initially ask Howard (Simon Helberg) and Sheldon to help because they would have taken over the project and bossed him around. However, as you can see, the “omega” male quickly discovers that he needs to be bossed around.
The Big Bang Theory fans will be shocked to see the gang actually cooperating while they craft their alien message. However, this isn’t the most surprising thing that will happen during “The Communication Deterioration.” According to a huge spoiler, aliens will actually see a video message recorded by Dr. Sheldon Cooper. Unfortunately, the aliens that see the message aren’t adorable little green men like Master Yoda — they’re planet-conquering extraterrestrials that “conclude that he is declaring war on them and decide to attack the planet Earth.”
The spoiler claims that the aliens in the show’s final sequence are “real,” but perhaps they won’t receive Sheldon’s message until far into the future — it’s highly doubtful that the Big Bang Theory will suddenly become an alien invasion comedy. The E.T. sequence may be a tie-in with Jim Parsons’ animated movie Home . According to the Los Angeles Times , Parsons voices a color-changing extraterrestrial named Oh in the recently-released family flick. If the aliens look like purple udders with eyeballs, they’re definitely part of a Home promo.
As the Inquisitr previously reported, “The Communication Deterioration” won’t just focus on the guys’ attempt to convince E.T.’s that Earth is an amazing place. Viewers will also find out what happens during Penny’s audition for Clerks 3 , and they might be a bit surprised by what she decides to do. In the clip below, Penny tries (and fails) to ask Sheldon for advice about her acting career.
The next episode of The Big Bang Theory airs Thursday, April 16 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. Do you think the show will actually introduce real aliens, or will they just be a part of one of Sheldon Cooper’s imaginative dream sequences?
