Jill Duggar C-Section Emergency Surgery Required After 70 Hours Of Labor Before Son’s Birth

Jill Duggar is sharing all the details of her dramatic C-section that took place only after she suffered through 70 hours of labor with husband Derick Dillard by her side. But the 19 Kids And Counting reality TV personality emphasizes that the birth of her son Israel David Dillard made it all worth while, reported the New York Daily News .

“His birth didn’t go as expected,” admitted Jill, who had hoped for a home birth that was all-natural. “But having him here — it’s all worth it. I wouldn’t do anything differently.”

The 23-year-old first time mother explained that she had to alter those birth plans when she had complications. Her stressful labor began when she received positive test results for a bacteria that can be passed on from mom to baby. Although Jill took antibiotics for Strep B to manage that concern, she then learned about signs that the baby might be experiencing distress.

Jill and Derick agreed that prioritizing their unborn baby’s health over their desire to have a home birth was essential. And the decision to undergo a C-section became urgent when doctors told her that the baby was in a dangerous breech position, compounded by uneven heart beats.

At nine pounds, 10 ounces, little Israel David is now being carefully tended by new dad Derick.

“I love our birth story because it bonded us so well,” revealed Jill. “I still haven’t changed a single diaper. Derick has been changing them all.”

So, would she consider going through it again?

“[We’re] open to as many children as God will give,” said Jill.

As the Inquisitr reported, Derick Dillard supported his wife by monitoring her nutrition and protein intake.

“I’ll try and add up her protein every day, make sure we’re getting 60 to 80 grams of protein,” said the 26-year-old. “At the same time you don’t want to get too much because you don’t want to have a 10 lb. baby.”

As for grandparents Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar , they’re thrilled, reported Us Weekly .

They have three married children, four grandchildren, and one baby bump to celebrate. The couple used their Facebook page to express their appreciation.

“We want to thank everybody for all their support for Jill and Derick, and for your prayers. What a blessed time this is as we welcomed our new grandbaby, little Israel, into the world. We are just so thankful for our friends and those out there that have been praying for our family. Thank you so much.”

And Jim Bob joked about what they expect.

“Yeah, so…four grandkids and counting, going on 200!”
