Paris Hilton Joins Kanye West As Fans Raise Petition To Dump Her From Festival

Music fans have raised a petition to have Paris Hilton removed from the line-up of Milwaukee’s Summerfest lineup. According to Spin, Summerfest is one of the largest and most prestigious music festivals in the U.S., and it seems that some music fans are less than impressed that Paris Hilton has been booked to play a DJ set.

Last month, music fans in the U.K. went berserk when rapper Kanye West was booked to play at the legendary Glastonbury festival, and a petition was raised to have him removed from the line-up. That petition has so far been signed by over 135,000 people, which is the capacity of the festival.

The petition against West’s appearance at Glastonbury has seemingly inspired music fan Thomas Neill from Caldwell, New Jersey, who has started a similar petition demanding that Paris Hilton be kicked from the bill. Mr. Neill is clearly not inspired by Summerfest’s selection of Hilton as a headline DJ. He claims that Hilton being booked “is a middle finger to anyone who paid to go this festival.”

“Paris Hilton is is a disgrace to dance music and is a perfect example of what spoiled celebrities do when they’re bored. She has no right to be paid good money to stand up there and clap her hands on a stage.

If Paris has any respect for dance music she would step down as she’s clearly not worthy. If you have any respect for the integrity of music you will remove Paris Hilton from the lineup.”

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Summerfest is an 11-day event , and Paris Hilton joins some of the world’s top acts on the line-up. Alongside Hilton, Ed Sheeran, Kendrick Lamar, Linkin Park, and Whitesnake are all booked to appear.

Paris Hilton has tried her hand at a range of occupations over the years, but has been trying to score success as a musician for close to a decade. Hilton has even topped the U.S. dance chart on a couple of occasions. Hilton has even secured a number of DJ residencies, but Canadian DJ Deadmau5 compared Hilton to a go-karter on a racetrack.

That said, the Daily News reports that Paris Hilton was paid $2.7 million for a four-night stint in Ibiza last year. To date, just under 7,000 music fans have signed the petition to have Paris Hilton removed from the Summerfest lineup. In the festival “unpopularity” stakes, Paris Hilton appears to have some way to go to catch up with Kanye West.
