WWE News: The History Of The Undertaker At WrestleMania – Is WrestleMania 31 His Last?

There are only a few days until WWE puts on WrestleMania 31 out in California, and fans are looking forward to it for many different reasons. The current card looks quite stacked, and it includes the in-ring WWE debut of the icon known as Sting. Still, there is something else that could happen at WrestleMania 31 which is much more significant, and it could be the very last match for The Undertaker.

The Undertaker has not been seen in a year, and that’s since his streak was broken by Brock Lesnar . Up until about a month ago, no-one was even sure he would ever come back, but he is, and it’s for a match against Bray Wyatt.

The Wrestling Observer believes that WWE wants to hold off on Undertaker’s retirement match until next year when WrestleMania 32 takes place in Texas, his home state. The problem is that no-one is sure if he can make it another year and wrestle another match.

For now, he has a WrestleMania record of 21-1, and it’s time to look at the history of The Undertaker’s matches at the biggest wrestling event of each year.

WrestleMania VII – 1991 – Defeated Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka via pinfall

WrestleMania VIII – 1992 – Defeated Jake “The Snake” Roberts via pinfall

WrestleMania IX – 1993 – Defeated Giant Gonzalez via disqualification

The Undertaker did not wrestle at WrestleMania X in 1994 due to being injured.

WrestleMania XI – 1995 – Defeated King Kong Bundy via pinfall

WrestleMania XII – 1996 – Defeated Diesel via pinfall

WrestleMania XIII – 1997 – Defeated Sycho Sid via pinfall

WrestleMania XIV – 1998 – Defeated Kane via pinfall

WrestleMania XV – 1999 – Defeated The Big Boss Man via pinfall in Hell in a Cell

The Undertaker was 8-0 at this point, but did not wrestle at WrestleMania XVI in 2000 due to another injury.

WrestleMania X-Seven – 2001 – Defeated Triple H via pinfall

WrestleMania X8 – 2002 – Defeated Ric Flair via pinfall

WrestleMania XIX – 2003 – Defeated Big Show and A-Train via pinfall in a handicap match

WrestleMania XX – 2004 – Defeated Kane via pinfall

WrestleMania XXI – 2005 – Defeated Randy Orton via pinfall

WrestleMania XXII – 2006 – Defeated Mark Henry in a casket match

WrestleMania XXIII – 2007 – Defeated Batisita via pinfall

WrestleMania XXIV – 2008 – Defeated Edge via submission

WrestleMania XXV – 2009 – Defeated Shawn Michaels via pinfall

WrestleMania XXVI – 2010 – Defeated Shawn Michaels via pinfall

WrestleMania XXVII – 2011 – Defeated Triple H via submission

WrestleMania XXVIII – 2012 – Defeated Triple H via pinfall

WrestleMania XXIX – 2013 – Defeated CM Punk via pinfall

WrestleMania XXX – 2014 -Lost to Brock Lesnar via pinfall

Last year’s match broke the streak that had been built all the way up to 21-0 for The Undertaker at WrestleMania . As the streak is no longer intact, the story now goes to when the final retirement match will be for the “Dead Man.”

If The Undertaker can make it one more year, it would be fitting to have his retirement match end his history in his home state of Texas. Maybe, a feud against Sting could be his big send-off as so many longtime wrestling fans have hoped for. If that’s not possible though, then WrestleMania 31 may be the last hurrah for the phenom known as The Undertakter.
