HarperCollins has sealed a $4 million book deal with Amanda Knox that gives the book publisher the rights to her life story.
The book deal comes after Knox was approached by Random House, Macmillan, Simon & Schuster, and Penguin all who bid on the book which is expected to at least in part be based on the journal she kept in prison.
The big time book deal was brokered by Lawyer Robert Barnett who also happened to broker the massive book deals for Sarah Palin.
In a statement Harper’s publisher said of the new offering:
“No one has yet heard Amanda Knox’s own account” of her accusation of the murder of Meredith Kercher in Italy.
The publisher goes on to note:
“This book will give Knox an opportunity to tell the story in full detail, for the first time. It will be the story of a crime and a trial, but also a moving account of a young woman’s struggle to cope with a nightmarish ordeal that placed her at the center of a media storm, and led to her imprisonment.”
In the meantime Italian prosecutors have appealed Amanda Knox’s acquittal, although any further actions against her could take years to clear through the Italian court system.
In the meantime Raffaele Sollecito, the young man accused of participating in the murder of Meredith Kercher with Knox is also shopping around his own memoir.
Will you be rushing out to purchase the Amanda Knox memoir when it hits bookshelves or have you seen enough on TV and read enough in print?
