Fans of The Big Bang Theory know that Leonard Nimoy never made an in-person appearance on the hit CBS show, but he and his Star Trek character, Spock, are constantly referenced. There was also one time in which Nimoy lent his voice as the action figure of his Star Trek character. So it was fitting that the series pay tribute to the actor, who passed away at the age of 83 last week.
According to Entertainment Weekly , at the end of the most recent Big Bang Theory episode , a picture of Nimoy appeared in place of Chuck Lorre’s usual vanity cards. The tribute itself was a simple thank you to the actor for how much of an influence he was to the show.

The Big Bang Theory recently wrote off the character of Mrs. Wolowitz, following the passing of the actress who portrayed her, Carol Ann Susi. But as the Inquisitr previously reported , fans of the series also want the people in charge to do a full tribute episode to Nimoy, since he was a hero to one of its main characters, Sheldon Cooper.
The character, portrayed by Jim Parsons, is constantly battling others in match-ups of “Rock-Paper-Scissors-Lizard-Spock.” The episode in which Nimoy lent his voice had Sheldon dreaming the actor was actually talking to him, while another featured Penny giving Sheldon a napkin that the Star Trek actor signed after he came into her work.

The Big Bang Theory should do a tribute episode to Leonard Nimoy @BigBang_CBS — Jonathon McAllister (@JonathonRM91) February 27, 2015
And even though Nimoy was only present for one episode of The Big Bang Theory , he told the Hollywood Reporter back in 2012 that he had a lot of fun working with the cast and crew.
“I thoroughly enjoyed myself. [They’re] a talented company and a smart show; they made me welcome.”
While plans for a full tribute episode have yet to be discussed, Big Bang Theory fans were appreciative of the recent dedication.
