Rosie O’Donnell filed for divorce from her wife, Michelle Rounds, through the Manhattan State Supreme Court on Friday. People accessed legal documents on pertaining the split. The papers read that the pair are ending their marriage due to “an irretrievably broken relationship.”

Rosie and Michelle’s divorce comes just a few weeks after the the feisty star abruptly left The View on ABC. She was quarreling with Whoopi Goldberg and producers were at the end of their rope trying to work with her, as the Inquisitr recently reported .

News of the Rosie divorce isn’t a complete surprise. Earlier this month, the candid 52-year-old announced that she was planning to separate from her wife, quit The View , and concentrate on her health and children.

O’Donnell and Rounds, 42, were married at their home in Nyack, New York, in June, 2012. They separated in November and share custody of their 2-year-old adopted daughter, Dakota. The former View co-host also has four other children she had with ex-partner Kelli Carpenter.

It’s noted in the report that Rosie and Michelle have a prenuptial agreement already written up.

A rep hasn’t commented on Rosie’s divorce as of Friday. It’s unknown when that will take place.

On February 7, a source said to be close with O’Donnell released a statement to New York Daily News when she let the world know she and Rounds were having problems.

“It’s devastating personal circumstances — she just said, ‘I need to be with my family.’ This is very stressful. She’s splitting from her wife; she has two teenagers and a baby.”

Rosie’s PR representative, Cindi Berger, also gave the news source a statement regarding their separation.

“I can confirm that Rosie and her wife, Michelle, split in November. Rosie has teens and an infant at home that need her attention. This has been a very stressful situation.”

Rosie divorced from Carpenter in 2007 after three years of marriage, Daily News adds; that was her first marriage.

When the actress/comedienne exited The View this month, ABC released a statement saying she they “respected and understood her desire to put her well-being and her family first.”

This is a difficult time for Rosie O’Donnell, but she wants to put her family first and move forward. Leaving a job and divorcing someone in the span of one month is a lot for anyone to take. Despite Rosie’s divorce and leaving The View, she’s focusing on what’s important to her at this time in her life.
