Dr. Travis Stork and his co-hosts on the CBS show The Doctors have put Honey Boo Boo on a diet . Just nine-years-old and weighing in at 125 pounds, the four-foot, six-inch girl is about twice the size of a healthy child her age and height, says the U.K.’s Daily Mail, noting that if fit, Honey Boo Boo would weigh between 60 and 70 pounds.
According to Access Hollywood , Honey Boo Boo and Mama June went on The Doctors after receiving an invitation to appear for a discussion about diet . When asked what her daughter’s diet looks like, Mama June told a reporter that Honey Boo Boo eats a breakfast bowl before school, has lunch at school, and has a dinner at home.
Honey Boo Boo and her family followed a notoriously unhealthy diet during the reality show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. A report by The Christian Post noted that the family’s dangerous diet includes a few favorites including homemade lemonade made with five pounds of sugar and “sketti” made with a mixture of noodles, microwaved ketchup, and butter.
In addition to a daily diet filled with fat, sugar, and processed snacks, Honey Boo Boo enjoyed a spectacularly unhealthy treat the family referred to as “go go juice.” The drink, which she downed before pageants during TLC’s Toddlers & Tiaras , was a highly caffeinated blend of Mountain Dew and Red Bull. Honey Boo Boo was also treated to 15 Pixie Stix before each of her competitions.
Dr. Stork told Access Hollywood that a combination of poor diet and sedentary lifestyle had contributed to Honey Boo Boo’s weight issue. Because of her extreme level of obesity , he said, she is at risk for an early death from diabetes, stroke, cancer, and other diseases.
The diet prescribed for Honey Boo Boo is an age-appropriate eating plan based on Stork’s best-selling book, The Doctor’s Diet . She was also given a bicycle. Instead of noshing on Mama June’s sketti and other fat-filled favorites, Honey Boo Boo and her family will be following a healthy diet prepared by a private chef.
Honey Boo Boo is just one of millions who need to lose weight. In a recent report, the Inquisitr took an in-depth look at which weight loss methods are best . As it turns out, lifestyle, not just diet, must be optimized in order to shed pounds and improve health. Exercise, proper sleep, and avoiding sugar and processed carbs can help, according to Dr. Sally Norton, a medical contributor to Mail Online as well as the U.K.’s first female weight loss surgeon.
Discussing Honey Boo Boo and her new diet, Dr. Stork told a reporter “It’s now or never. I can’t promise everything, but I think we got through to Mama June.”
