Charlie Sheen just came out as a Republican? Well, maybe a Libertarian. The television and movie star appears to have joined a small but perhaps growing segment of Hollywood that bucks the politically correct trend and chastises liberal ideology.
During an interview on The Flipside with Michael Loftus , Charlie Sheen stunned the world – and this time it has nothing to with his sexual exploits or drug and alcohol usage. After sharing some memories from his childhood with audience, Sheen said that is he were king for a day he would put “skilled vets in front of our schools, that have been vetted, a 10 percent flat tax across the board” and the third thing he would do would be to tell everybody to “relax.”
Charlie Sheen’s political views appear to mirror many of the same beliefs held by Hollywood giants like Clint Eastwood, Jon Voight, James Woods, and Superman star Dean Cain. The former Two and a Half Men star’s famous family includes West Wing star Martin Sheen and brother Emilio Estevez. During an interview with Bill O’Reilly, actor Rob Lowe also detailed his Libertarian leanings.
“Put the Constitution back into place. People say, ‘Are you a Republican or a Democrat – no, I’m a Constitutional Republican, man. I believe in the Constitution. Look at what we went through to write that document,” Charlie Sheen added.
A lack of respect and adherence of the Constitution is something President Barack Obama has been widely accused of by Republicans, Libertarians, and others who cherish the document the Founding Fathers risked their lives by signing. One of the most famous and often recited quotes by Libertarian-minded Founding Father Thomas Jefferson, reads,” If it doesn’t pick my pocket or break my leg, what business is it of mine?”
As previously reported by the Inquisitr , political activist Mark Dice has created a multitude of viral videos demonstrating how quickly and easily Americans, particularly younger ones, are willing to cast aside their Constitutional rights. The Water’s World segment on the Bill O’Reilly Fox News show also illustrate how little some Americans, many of them students at renowned colleges, know about their rights, current political legislation – some could not even name the vice president of the United States.
The most shocking and frightening aspect of the viral Mark Dice videos and the Water’s World segments noted by the majority of commenters on the pieces is that folks featured “sometimes” exercise their right to vote.
The first 10 amendments to the Constitution comprise the Bill of Rights and were written by James Madison. The Founding Fathers approved the creation of the Bill of Rights in response to urgings from multiple states for greater protection for individual liberties. The Bill of Rights lists specific restrictions on governmental power.
