Kanye West is stirring up some controversy following the 2015 Grammy Awards , and what many thought to be a joke, turns out to be a serious moment.
Everyone remembers the 2009 Video Music Awards when Kanye West rushed the stage and interrupted Taylor Swifts moment to claim that the then country singer shouldn’t have won Best Female Video for her song “You Belong With Me.” Kanye strongly believed that Beyonce should have claimed the title for her video, “Single Ladies.”
“Yo Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’ll let you finish, but Beyonce has one of the best videos of all time. One of the best videos of all time!”
Needless to say, Kanye received quite a bit of grief over his actions, and since then people have dubbed that moment the moment Taylor Swift was “Kanyed.” Since 2009, Kanye has managed to keep himself from running onstage and interrupting moments, that is until Beck was awarded Album of the Year during the 2015 Grammy Awards.
While the “Heart Is A Drum” singer was accepting the award for Album of the Year, Beck was almost “Kanyed” himself, meaning that Kanye West did rush the stage, though this time he only smiled and took his seat once more. Because Kanye didn’t actually say much at the time, most assumed that the moment was all a joke, when in reality, it wasn’t.
When asked by E! News about the stage rush moment, Kanye didn’t hold back according to US Weekly .
“I just know that the Grammys, if they want real artists to keep coming back, they need to stop playing with us. We ain’t gonna play with them no more. And Beck needs to respect artistry and he should’ve given his award to Beyonce.”
Now, for those of you who didn’t watch the Grammy Awards last night, Beyonce was in the running for Album of the Year for her self titled Album.
“What happens is, when you keep on diminishing art and not respecting the craft and smacking people in the face after they deliver monumental feats of music, you’re disrespectful to inspiration,” he said. “And we as musicians have to inspire people who go to work every day.”
According to the Huffington Post , even wife Kim Kardashian remarked on Beck’s award by posting a photo online with the caption “This is the Beck won the award face?!?!?!”

While it may seem like Kanye West was throwing some major shade at Beck, the Album of the Year winner had nothing bad to say about his “Kanyed” moment.
“I was just so excited he was coming up. He deserves to be on stage as much as anybody,” said Beck. “How many great records has he put out in the last five years right?”
And when asked if he was still excited about the situation after finding out that Kanye believed that Beyonce should have won, Beck responded with “Absolutely. I thought she was going to win. Come on, she’s Beyonce!”
Serious moment or not, at least Beck had a good attitude about Kanye West and his opinions. Did you think Kanye’s stage rush was a joke? Share your opinions in the comments below!
